Cherry Blossoms

Despite the colder than usual weather we have been having for the past week or so, my cherry trees have bloomed. I do so love getting the cherries but when the trees are in bloom it's so beautiful. The entire tree is covered in beautiful white flowers. My peach tree has pretty little pink blossoms but it's not quite ready to bloom yet. Pictured here is a cherry tree blossom. This was taken a couple of years ago.

Lovely photo. My weeping cherry has not bloomed, yet. It's still trying to warm up little by little here.

@fishtiger58 Spring is my favorite time of year. It is kind of a rebirth in nature.

It's my favorite time of the year, when the fruit trees bloom so beautiful. Thanks so glad you like my shot.

@DianneN I so agree, nothing better than seeing all that green popping out of the ground after a long white winter.

Love your photo here. To me, Spring is the loveliest time of the year when everything comes back to life.

When the whole tree is blooming it's the most beautiful thing. Any fruit tree is like that.

we can see the inside of the cherry blossom as if we're right there. i didn't know cherries grow on trees (i guess i was imagining shrubs or vines) so i hope we get to see them, too.

Every summer growing up we would head up to Door County to pick cherries. Mom made great cherry pies, though I totally dislike cherries.

@fishtiger58 Whenever we went cherry picking Dad would always say the cherries went in the bucket not in the mouth. My sister was guilty of that. Not me. Mom would can the cherries and we would have cherries year round. She would also freeze them. There was never a shortage of cherries. I've always said it was one fruit God could have left out, but I do understand it's loaded with those good antioxidants.

So pretty! I love when trees blossom. We had an orange tree, it was more like a shrub because it didn't grow right but I always enjoyed the little blossoms on it.

Thanks so much. If I could I would grow an orange tree, but my area of the country is not right for growing oranges unfortunately.

@DesirousDreamer I would love either one. Some say you can grow them indoors, like a dwarf orange or lemon and bring them outside in the cold months but I have my doubts about that.

@fishtiger58 an orange tree would be nice or a lemon tree. I had a neighbor that had lemon trees and they were HUGE and so good.

I suppose you live in such an environment where weather is conducive to the growth of cherries. You are very lucky. We get cherries in summer months (May-July) here in New Delhi. However, cherries do not grow in New Delhi, they grow at cooler and hilly places of Jammu and Kashmir State. Picture courtesy - www.kashmirmonitor.in

Yes indeed the more blossoms the more cherries. This tree is young we have only had it two years. This will be the first year we actually get cherries. We do have a cherry bush that we have gotten fruit from but they are very small cherries. We are getting excited for the big cherries from this one tree.

@fishtiger58 I know a frost after the bloom can cause a disaster, farmers suffered that here a few years back having a significantly reduced crop.

@pgiblett When we didn't get peaches that year, most of Illinois and Indiana peach trees were shot for that season, my hubby was upset he so loves the tree ripened peaches.

You know I think that too, but a few years ago the peach tree bloomed and then we had a frost and no peach that summer. So I guess the weather can fool the plants and trees as well as us humans.

aw, makes me sad that my cherry/peach trees ('long with a few others...) perished'n the years'f drought. the apple tree blossomed, but what the winds didn't yank out're all tattered'n torn.

@fishtiger58 sure, jest rub't in, lol. i hope yer ol' peach tree survives, though they do get prone to disease when they get'p a few years...kinda like's humans. if'n ya got room fer 'nother, ya might see 'bout gettin' one established 'fore that'un heads to greener pastures.

My one cherry tree is doing well hoping for lots of cherries this summer. The peach tree is still alive but it's old and we don't think it will be around much longer. We might have to get a new one this year or next.

I really like the cherry blossom because it is quite beautiful. There are few cherry trees here and therefore I can't see this scene here. But fortunately we have some other flowers blossom and it is also beautiful.

Oh so that's how a cherry blossom appears . So dainty . Does it emit a fragrant smell ? By the way , before when i haven't seen this picture of a cherry blossom , i thought it's colored red since cherry is red .
