Short form of words and Vocabulary are quite common today and we have started using it in emails, messages and other form of writings for our own convenience. We expect others too to use the same format since it is convenient for them to know and understand by saving time. But how many of us have realized that short forms of words have actually harmed a lot when it comes to simple spellings and full form of vocabularies. I resist from using this kind of short forms in front of children and also in official stuffs. Many times I have seen and noticed people forgetting the actual spelling of the short form word or else they have spelled incorrectly completely.

I don't shortened the words when I am texting or chatting. It's not a good practice.

That is really good!! I can not say that I do not use short forms of words, but I do not prefer using it in official matter or professional front. That time we have need to respect the normal and regular norm.

@Shayani It's a good practice not to use it any forms of converstaions because there's a danger of getting used to it.

I think it's down to text speak. Many now write as they would do in a text message. Eventually if it carries on I think it will change language and become acceptable which would be a shame.

I have encountered incidents at office, where people are indulged in these short form tactics , but for me it is not the professional way. You have rightly mentioned Mike , that if this continues , it will soon be accepted quite easily.
