Turned off my "likes" notifications

So I went into my settings area and finally turned off my "likes" notifications. Only things on are all responses and what not. Hopefully that will cut back on my regular notifications. Otherwise its a never ending chore to go through all recent and new notifications. How do you deal with your notifications?

Well, I am on my first day back here (after years of inactivity), and I feel I still have a manageable number of notifications coming in, so I haven't turned anything off yet. I also learned that the number of notifications will just go up and up until you delete it. So I like to delete them as I do what I need to do with them. For instance, when the notification is about someone commenting to my response, I follow the link, read the comment, reply if there's anything else to add, then delete the notice about it as well as the like and mention related to that comment. It's like checking off things from a to do list and gives me a certain pleasure. Lol! My notifications are back down to zero now - meaning I have seen them all. I feel so accomplished! Of course, I am looking forward to any new notifications that will come in.

@carebear29 Thanks! I followed you, too. I am hoping to get myLot back into my daily routine.

@moirai Your notifications will drop off after 7 days, whether you react to them or not. They don't keep increasing by staying there forever. However I do try to delete mine as I deal with them.

I had no idea it was possible to turn off the "likes" notification - but I'm thinking of doing the same thing so I can stay as caught up with my comments as possible.

I also turned of my likes notifications as well as the mentions so I'll only be able to deal with responses and comments.

@carebear29 Oh yes, I get that. Bcause sometimes there are coments in your response which is not for you.

I have been meaning to turn off my likes also. I do like pressing "like" on people's responses, discussions, and whichever comments appeal to me but it does add up on the notifications section. I also disable emails too from myLot because in the past - I would get so many and I don't need anymore emails.

@carebear29 I just disabled the "likes" from showing on my notifications. I like to see the followers for now though.

I have to turn off my Followers too. I check on those periodically anyways. My emails are already off

I turned off my likes ages ago - we don't need to know all of them. It definitely streamlines the notifs.

i think it is good that you have turned off your likes notifications. i remember back in times when i used to be a regular mylot user, once i was out for a day when i returned i received 90+ notifications, then some one suggested that i should turn off this and i did. it is much easier to handle notifications when we turn off likes notifications

Its better now that I turned off some of the ones I don't need.

I did the same thing. The notifications got out of hand, and it got difficult trying to manage it. I also turned off the "likes" -- not that I'm not grateful about people liking my discussions, comments, or responses; I just can't do anything about it anyway. Plus if I did go to my comments and responses, I would be able to see the "likes".

Likes and a few others take a lot of my notifications and since turning off my likes it has made a huge difference

I never thought about controlling my own notifications until the other day lol
