I think it's great because you can just chat and don't have to be a professional writer. No research, no deadlines- just commenting and being polite and interesting. I like it for that.

Yes the site is forgiving, but there are still language purists who wish for people to improve over time.

@pgiblett yes but that's understandable. They do try hard to participate, but others are just here to annoy.

@toniganzon I have an advantage over many given that I know how some non-native speakers (particularly those from the subcontinent) use this language.

That is true, but there are still some discussions that are hard to decipher because of the bad English.

@pgiblett If advanced language is used, it may go a bouncer over certain heads, but a simple language will be understood by all.

I like it that way too. On paid writing sites you have to be pretty on top of making sure you are grammatically correct and spelling everything right. On the other hand, here, it is definitely more laid back. No one is paying us for articles here, although we are getting paid of course. I think technically we are supposed to use good grammar and spelling but I'm not sure who enforces that. Glad you are enjoying it here.

Sometimes even after so much efforts, they reject the post saying it does not meet quality standards which so painful.

You may not need to be a professional writer, but tackling English and being able to communicate well always helps. I am a professional writer but do love to come to MyLot to chat and spend a little time.
