As parents even as we take the role of parenting as a full time job,we also need to make sure that we adopt a friendship climate with our children. This is to make sure that they trust us enough to confine in us in case they need someone to talk. Then what matters is your style of parenting.By this I mean even as you have high expectations of your children, let them feel free to make contributions on how to go about some things.

It should be a two way process unlike during my times when we were not allowed to argue/answer back - siva

That was the worst parenting style whereby it was only about the parent to talk as the children were only supposed to listen.

I think we need to spend more time to accompany them. It is enough.
