A notification on Facebook at the lowest right side of my laptop flashed , while I was doing a spreadsheet this morning . My niece tagged me in a video . What video ? I immediately clicked on it and I saw the video of my father and his physical therapist at the porch of my parents’ house . He was walking in his prosthetic leg , assisted by his physical therapist . I never get the chance of seeing him doing his Physical Therapy , because I am at work and lives in the city . I only get to visit them every other Saturday and tomorrow i shall be there . Thanks to Facebook and my niece who posted it , I saw him doing that . I was so happy and I also see the happy comments of my cousins and relatives from afar . My sister from Antipolo commented , she can’t help shedding tears seeing him able to walk again . Just sharing my happy feeling . . . .

Thank you . The prosthetic has been with him for weeks already . But the first time he tried it on , her knees that will be using it gets calloused . So he has to have it healed again . Now , he is is trying it again and i hope this time it will not callous his knee anymore . Just like a new pair of shoes , it gave him callous the first time he wore it .

There are advantages of Face Book that we unknowingly learn from, and I am glad you already saw your father walk with his artificial leg

Yes, indeed . It's just sometimes , the people who posts nonsense that makes it undesirable sometimes . In the video my father was with the aid of a walker , while being held at his back lower shirt by her physical therapist . I hope he will be accustomed to it soon .

@SIMPLYD Your father has the will power to be treated, so with some words of encouragement, he will be able to walk without any assistance

Oh indeed that is something to be happy about .. I hope he gets better and better everyday .. and he is lucky to have that therapy .. I know a couple of people over there that can't afford therapy .. it's sad to see them struggle ..

THank you , my friend . Indeed , we are very grateful to God because despite his being diabetic since he was 60 plus then he had his prostate cancer which is now gone , he still is alive at his age of going 84 this May . And he is lucky he has a high pension to afford a prosthetic leg that is expensive and its therapy . He is a retired judge .

@epiffanie Really . But it could be pursued even when one is already working as others here does . No one amongst us 5 siblings , all girls , took after him though . My daughter likes to be a lawyer too when she graduated from high school . However , my father said she can take one that is about science since she graduated in Phil. National High School in Goa , and pursue her dream of being a lawyer when she finished medicine . But i guess , now that's not in her priority anymore .

@SIMPLYD so glad for your dad that he pulled through that health issue and that he had a very job that provided him with comfortable retirement .. There are many people over there in our homeland who can barely survive with the very small amount of pension they receive .. Studying law was my dream when I was a child but my poor parents could not afford .. I wanted to b a judge too .

That is the way that Facebook should be used, although in most cases it simply consists of puerile small talk.

@SIMPLYD True! Others are just using FB to destruct others and to create negative propaganda. I hope FB could minimize that.

Actually my niece just came for a short vacation at my parents' house where her mother and sister lives also , so she was able to record his physical therapy session and posted it on FB . Because of that , all my relatives on FB on far places saw it and appreciated that they were able to see our father even just on FB .

He is diabetic . So when a wound caused by my mother's too much cutting of one of his toenail , turned into a gangrene , he had her lower left leg amputated rather that it will eventually creep up , he said . I know you are so careful with your health so keep it that way always. Bragg's apple cider vinegar can help us so much in preventing our blood sugar from going beyond the limit . But of course we have to do our part - exercise and eating in moderation .
