Fan was one of the most awaited movie of the year, and finally it hit the screens today. I had been waiting too for this movie of SRK as unlike his last few movies post Ra One, this was a different genre and theme altogether. I saw the movie today first show , so did movie justify what it promised, an intriguing tale of a superstar and his fan.
The story is about a 25 year old guy from Delhi, who is obsessed with his favorite star Aryan Khanna( both played by SRK himself) and he fights all obstacles to meet his idol in Mumbai to realise that his superstar icon not even gives him 5 minutes of his life for him. All this fan needed was a selfie , a hug and few good words from his idol and when he is denied or told that he has no value in the star’s life, the fan gets dejected and feels thrashed. It creates a huge trauma for him and that creates his obsession into madness and how he tries to destroy anything that his star has is what constitues the rest of the movie.
I can say this movie is unlike any SRK movie in last 10-12 years, it is dark and gritty, it deals with deep emotions of rejection, obsession and self destruction. It tells us if a Fan gets mad, how far he may go to , as he has nothing to loose then. The concept was good but at some places execution was not that great, however a great performance from Shahrukh Khan covers up for most part.
The movie reaches high point at climax which may or may not be accepted with whole heart from people. But I feel the climax hjustified the obsession of the Fan.
Overall, a highly reccomended movie if you like to watch some different cinema, it may not be a typical commercial SRK movie like Happy New year or Dilwale , but its his best work after Swades for me.

Good review Avinashji. I have one observation. From 2008, the real block buster actor is Salman Khan. All his films from Wanted, Dabaang, Bodyguard, Ek Tha tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan had done business of 150 to 320 crores. Shahrukh Khan lives in his past, the days of Diwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. In the recent past only his film Chennai Express did business above 220 crores. Fan has done business of 80 crores, it is a low budget film, so had done moderate business.

You are right, the last 8 years have belonged to Salman and Aamir, and SRK is trying is recreate his past glory days. Even Akshay is playing consistent 100-130 crore innings.
Time has changed, audience has changed, SRK is trying to change too , but he should have tried it 5 years back.
