@Fleur and the Nature Post of the day: Little Stan and the Big Worm

I just read a post by @Fleur suggesting a 'nature' post each day and went off to hunt around on my work laptop hard-drive to see what I could find.
I would like to offer this photo of Little Stan and the Big Worm which was taken in India in the city of Mangalore. We were walking up to a local museum and spotted this big monster worm, wriggling amongst some dead leaves. Maybe he's not a worm, maybe he's a centipede - I was reluctant to get too close to find out.
But Little Stan was certainly impressed and keen to have a photo to show his friends.

Little Stan looks rigid with terror at this monster. It looks to me more like a millipede than a worm (the ones we have in England are tiny compared to the ones in the tropics), so Little Stan may have less to fear from it than he thinks because millipedes are generally herbivores.

@boiboing I was thinking that he must be a tough and redoubtable chap in reality if he can travel to Mangalore (and. presumably, other places in the world). Perhaps he is rather like Passepartout in that he is something of an innocent who nevertheless accomplishes great things in the service of his Mistress.

@owlwings I guess one of these days the hierarchy of my travelling bears may need to be revealed. Little Stan and Big Stan used to do holidays in rotation - one trip little, next big - and then started muscling in and insisting on both going as 'companion' bears for my main travel bear, Pooh. Then Pooh went into semi-retirement and his body-double, Junior, took over. As they say on facebook about relationships 'It's Complicated'.

I wonder if I am loading slowly. I do not see a photo. It is a good idea, though.

Obviously he was looking at worms. A young bear is always looking for new friends.

I read somewhere that centipedes can be super super poisonous, they didn't used to scare me, but now do.

That is quite a picture. Did you add Little Stan to it, or was the teddy already there?

That is quite a centipede (I think). I would not get too close either. Stan is quite curious.

Great post. The only worms I know anything about are big red worms or the fat earth worms. We did for them to use for fish bait when we go fishing. Have a wonderful day.
