Philippines is on red alert this day according to the Department of Energy (DOE). The current supply is getting thinner because of long drought. We are expecting daily blackouts in Mindanao. Those who are from Philippines here, we already have schedules of blackouts. Ours in Mindanao is from 2:00 p.m - 10:00 p.m. This is too long blackout. There will many works on line not to be done because of power failure. I may not be able to be here on Mylot as I want to, time with current very limited. We are only waiting here as to what day the blackouts would begin. This is the latest news from ABS-CBN. Oh no! I hope the government can do something about this. No electricity means no Fan or A/C. Heat can kill people.

@louievill Totally agreed with what you said. Actually I'm planning to save money to buy solar panel for emergency purposes.

@rye00005, What can the government do. Our dams almost run dry. We all suffer extreme temperature.Where can we buy that solar panel?

I think it's now time to start considering alternative energy, solar panels are now really cheap and has become affordable unlike before. Also we should consider getting an UPS or uninterrupted power supply so we can continue to Mylot. Greedy power companies might be conditioning our minds so they can raise power rates again which is already one of the highest in the world( just my opinion)

@cacay1 if somebody there happens to travel to Manila, there are lots in Raon Street, very very cheap plus they will teach you what other components are needed. I think they also have in malls there where there is cdr king

@louievill, Your opinion is correct.Let us wait and see when rain comes if there is no increase of power rate, too much high. I wonder where to acquire solar panel. Let us utilize the sun's power to at least minimize current.

Blackouts are terrible. Remember to buy candles and have enough water supply. Sometimes one thing brings the other.

@marguicha, We avoid candles at home, there are 4,5 ages children hyperactive, they might use it in burning if we miss to watch them. I bought 6 big flashlights to be used at intervals, and charged them when current is back.

I'm so sorry you have that situation. That will make it hard on everyone in your country. How can companies operate without power?

@just4him, Yes, very hard to deal the hot climate and only fans and aircon can satisfy us.Most companies have generators to generate lights. I plan to buy a mini generator. Our babies at home, the children of my sister, cry and shout every time blackout happens.

The reason why I prefer to have alternative power source like solar panels since there is so much sunshine in our country! Some private establishments are already using it. I hope the government will consider it also.

@cacay1 You have to wait until June or July for the rains to come. What to do in the meantime. So sorry to hear that.

@Marcyaz, yes this is a very sickening situation in Philippines everything that cools on people will be useless if there is no current. We do not know when shall this end. Rain may come in June or July too long to wait.

It's really terrible. But we don't have rotating blackouts in our city or the whole province. I can't imagine having blackouts from 2pm until 10pm because that would be too hot. People without power backup could suffer from too much heat even in their homes.

@cacay1 When is that marathon blackout going to start? Because I didn't experience any today. I am searching the internet for an announcement from the DOE regarding that but could only find power interruptions in some areas but not ours. Could you please give me a link so i could check if we were included in that list coz i just can't seem to find any. Our city has power source other than hydropower plant. We get sources from coal power plant as well.

I am sorry you are experiencing severe drought. In many part of the world this is becoming common and the humans are guilty of this because we are destroying all the wild forests.

Those humans who ruined the forest are the capitalists greedy of money. The poor cannot make it ,unless set the forest on fire.

@JamesHXstatic, So true, we have that kind of problem now. It is not easy to deal the very hot temperature. There is almost fire in Manila and 3 hectares forest in Davao city gotten by fire, and good United States Fire Bureau were able to put off the forest fire.

@HebrewGreekStduies, This cannot be fixed unless rain already came to pour some water to the lakes and falls the source of current. They are now getting thinner, so with the power supply.

This is why Philippines should invest in solar energy or nuclear energy. This rotational blackout is very annoying. It keeps us from doing our daily routines.
