I agree with others that you need a quiet place free from distractions. As much as possible anyway. Even if you have to go to a library. And if you cant study for several hours at once try to span it out a little bit at a time. For example it always helped meto make flash cards and look at them throughout the day. Best of luck to you!

I have usually the same problem myself and in my case its because of minor ADHD. It helps me if I listen good music and sing while I do something. Or then I just draw on some paper that I get in my hand. I know they are both bad. I'm sure teachers loved it when I used to doodle on my official test papers at the age of 17. hehhe. But I cant stop myself.

when i was still studying, i seldom study to be honest. but whenever i do, i isolate myself in some place quiet. i dont switch on my phone or my desktop too. i also make sure that im not hungry cause i cant enjoy eating while im studying. and it works for me.

What actually happens when we feel like our mind is wandering, there're lot of things going on in our mind. Best solution to find peace of mind is
(i) Write down your thoughts on paper, This would give you more analytical result, which will help you to take decision about the things you dont wish to happen.
(ii) Sit for atleast 5 mins in silence without doing anything just deep inhaling and exhaling.
(iii) Increase your water intake, drink a min of 2-3 ltr of water each day , it helps to relax brain nerves.
(iv) Make studies more intresting by thinking in an unconventional way, you will enjoy .

Start by closing your door and turning off your devices. You can also try to make a fixed schedule for studying, and build in breaks to do things like play a game on your phone. Make your schedule so that you get a break each 20 minutes, and reward yourself for the time you spend studying.
If your friends are a distraction, try organizing a study group so you can all keep each other accountable for getting your schoolwork done.

The problem is the devices. I just can't keep my hands off them!

@Curlybobby Then have someone lock them up for you, or discipline yourself. If you don't study, you might as well abandon school now.

What I use to do is write down my goals or percentage that I want to secure in the exam on a paper and paste it on the wall where I can see it every day. That somehow reminded me of my aim every time I looked at it and that way actually helped me to secure excellent percentage in my exams. Like I use to be an average student securing somewhere between 60% to 70% but trying this I secured around 85%.

I would like to share something here, I had the same during my school as well as college days.
Incidentally we happened to meet an astrologer, and he said this is Rahu effect......
Anyways, I think its natural with some people and I wud suggest learning the art of focusing mind on one thing.
Its very touch for people like us who are easily distracted while studying, but I guess we somehow make up for that with our speed.

Try and rest before studying to see if that helps
