Is your profession the right one for you or should you have chosen differently?

Are you happy with your profession? Do you love what you do or are you just there because this is what you paid to go to school for?

I was a teacher for 40 years. Now I'm retired. It was the right profession for me.

I think teachers are a significant part of our "families". You all are our children's parents while they are in your care or you are the role models that we as adults look up to because you have reached the finish line in your educational journeys and have entered your career paths. I believe I have the right to say thank you on behalf of all of us here!

Yes, I'm happy being a member of the legal profession. I won't be in this profession if I haven't survived law school. More importantly, I love and enjoy what I'm doing.

It`s important that you enjoy what you do, otherwise getting up in the morning for work will be a struggle

Absolutely, that is the key. One must not only love but also enjoy what s/he is doing!

@hydraa We need more people who love what they do. This way each individual's experience will be something positive to remember.

It pays the bills so it`s right for me for now,.What i want is to be self employed

Sometimes you have to do "for now" until you can get to where you want to be. I am self-employed and I love it. It can get stressful sometimes but being my own boss is an awesome feeling

@miniam As long as you are alive you can accomplish anything...NEVER give up on it. Some of us have to take the long way but we get there, eventually.

My profession is not really related to the degree I will have a month from now. i do like it and it pays decently but it is not where I see myself 5 years down the line. Over here we find a lot of graduates have to settle for jobs outside of their field.

Yes you are correct. Its becoming more of the norm for grads to work outside their fields and it sometimes takes a while to actually find something in their field

I love what I do and I work in automotive. The pay is good and the only problem is that my business that I work with has been moving to different buildings and it is a farther drive. When I started 17 years ago, it was a 45 minute drive 1 way, not it is 1 hour and 15 minutes 1 way. Yes, I could move close, but my wife works close to home (within 25 minutes). Yes, I could find another job, but I like the people that I work with and I have 17 years in with the company.

I could never imagine working so far from home, the farthest i worked from home was 30 minutes 1 way, i resigned after 3 months trial period was over. Right now i work a 7-minute drive from home and a 5 minute walk to bus stop.Im at work 15 minutes top. I have always worked close to home, when i moved here, it was not easy, it`s a little village with 5,000 people so jobs are hard to come by, took me almost 4 years to find a job,in that time i did temporary jobs to pay the bills.

You situation and decisions all make sense. You time with the company and the comfort of your wife is what matters. Excellent decisions
