Has anyone installed a usage meter?

I recently signed up with a program that pay you to have a meter installed on your wifi modem. They pay a bonus for doing so, as well as registering devices and then more for each month you have it connected. Since doing so, it seems like our wifi has become slow and a lot of devices have issues staying connected. I am thinking that after I reach my cash out amount I will do so and be done with it. Is anyone else involved with this program? Do you have connection issues and have you felt the money was worth it, the privacy invasion as well as the real possibility (that they mention) that they are keeping password/payment info? If I would of noticed the fine print before, I would not of bothered. A survey company I had been involved with for about 15 years recommended it as a way to passively make around $250 a year. It sounded good at the time, there are a lot of companies who pay around that for less information.
