Do you follow back your followers?

My husband once said that he followed someone on Twitter but that person didn't follow him back. I was wondering why this was a bit of an issue with him. I don't have a Twitter account, but here on myLot I have followers and I'm also following some people. However, I don't necessarily follow everyone who follows me. I just follow whoever I want to follow. Is that rude? Should there be like an unwritten rule that we should also follow those who follow us here?

I usually do. There is one I did not follow back. He had 4 followers and was following way over 100 people. His discussions were one short sentence. I follow back people who look more promising than that.

I guess if he's following a lot of people and not many are following him, that should be a warning sign.

I always do. I have no reason not to. There are advantages to following back

You're right. There are benefits to following back those who follow you. Maybe I should start doing it. I wish all those I'm following will also follow me back.

I'm on Twitter and I do not follow back all my followers. I do not think it is rude. It is a matter of preference. However, here in myLot, I follow back everyone who has followed me since Twitter and myLot work differently.

It makes sense to follow different practices for two different sites.

I think your husband will enjoy Mylot more than Twitter. I do not follow those who follow me, but when someone responds to my discussion, I will check out their profile, and respond to their discussion thread. Better get your husband to join Mylot. he sure can earn more money.

@Angel_15 I do not think that is the problem. You can check with Admin. I think the issue is in Paypal address. If he has different paypal address, he should be able to join.

I'm not sure if he'll be able to as we have the same IP address.

I spend time to check their profiles first. I don't want to follow back spammers.

It's wise to do a little investigation first.

There is no such rule to follow those who follow you. But for some kind of expression of gratitude, I try to follow too.

I don't follow all the people who follow me. At first I will check their profiles and posts. If we are something in common, then I will follow back. Otherwise I will just leave it alone.

I look at the pages of who follows me - I add them if they have content and don't look as if they are just writing spam or abuse

I only follow people I am genuinely interested in. A lot of followers do so, then you never see them again.

I try to stay connected to people I'm following. Otherwise there's no sense in following them.

No I don't automatically follow back. I may have a quick look over their profile and if it looks like we have similar interests I'll follow them back.

I guess I'm not the only one not automatically following back my followers. Although I'm starting to do it now.
