All systems go!

Hi everyone!
I think I am back
I don't want to go into all of the boring details of a week in hospital (after yet another ride in an ambulance) or of how I am trying to cope with all of the pills that I have to take now. All I will say is that I am lucky because the pain woke me up.
I have a lot of catching up to do and, added to the fact that I am slow doing everything right now, please bear with me and I will get to everyone as soon as I can.
Just a thought: do you have friends or someone you know who was fit and healthy all of their life and once they retired some illness or another raised its head?

Glad that you are back home MysD .
My late granda - he never had any ailments as long as he was in his business. Being a workaholic, helped him whenever he had any health issues. But after he retired, I saw his health deteriorate. No major illness but you know, the changes from "being hyper active" to being forced to lead a rather dull life.

Oh! How glad I am to see you back! I won't ask you any details. I know it gets annoying answering the same question over and over.
And I can imagine how it must have gone. I had seen it all happen with my grandpa and I was the one who filled up all the necessary forms before his by-pass surgery! And yes he is the one too who was healthy until he retired. He is an Ex-Army!

Wow, cool grandpa, what did your grandpa do at the army ?
From the army, people retire pretty soon, even at the age of 50 in my country.

@Daljinder What did he do at Africa ?
I know there are terror groups in Africa like, Al Shabab...
I hope he killed some terrorists.

@vandana7 I didn't see it. I'm always the last to know anything around here. It is so hard to find the discussions of the people I want to read. They keep changing stuff so I never know where to look. Now I'll have to go find JJ's post to catch up on what was going on.

@vandana7 I don't always see his discussions, at least not right away anyway. It takes me a little bit to go through all my notifications, and then I will respond to other haven't been in here as much as I have before, but I have other things to do, and I like to get them things done first.

I hope you're OK. I haven't noticed that pattern, but it makes sense to me. I get depressed/anxious if I'm not busy. And that raises cortisol levels, which isn't good for long-term health. I hope to be working at SOMETHING until my days are over.

Yes indeed I do. Seems it happens quite often strangely enough. I hope you get well soon

I have noticed it happening to many people but had not thought that I might be a victim too.
Thank you! I am improving with each day and hopefully will soon feel less tired so that I can do as much as before

and
Catch only what you feel like to. For you, there is always a new set of comments and responses so take your time.
Yes... he was workaholic... and retirement stole from him his most favorite pastime... so health suffered. No illness though, only weight loss.

I am so glad you are back here with us!! My mother was always pretty healthy and once she stopped working her health went down hill really fast. She has fibromyalgia, depression, problems with her thyroid, etc. I hate that she is always in pain and she hates the weight she has gained as well. So yes I have seen this happen.

It is wonderful to see you back, MysD!
Aren't piles of pills every time you turn around fun? (Yeah, I don't think so, either!)
Not really... people I know either had problems all their lives or else they don't seem to have any problems. (It does seem like the people with problems have always lived here and the people with none moved here from elsewhere, though... I wonder if there is a correlation? Might be worth checking into... )
Please, get plenty of rest and worry about something besides catching up!

Good to see you back, hasn't been the same without you
I think that happens to a lot of people, luckily it hasn't happened to my dad, he's 75 and very fit.

That´s exactly what happened to me. But I don´t know whether to blame it on retirement or to a lot of other things that should not have happened.

First of all, I wish you to recover completely and fast. I guess you have a huge pile of notification here :-)
I worked as a lobby officer at a nursing home and I saw how fast the people there get old, their health declined fast.
Keeping on working in something keeps the health better for longer time. The body needs to stay in shape and the aging is slower.
Doing nothing at home is not good, even if it's fun.
What do you mean by - all systems go - ? What kind of systems ?
