Great Pretenders

April 20, 2016 7:09am CST
Most of the people living in this world are great pretenders. Will you agree on my statement or not? They tend to pretend that they are fine even though in reality or deep inside they are totally far from being fine. They are actually not fine. This is how humans hide their weaknesses. They hide it by pretending that they have this strong shield existing on them. Not everything we see on someone is real, others are fake. And unbelievably other people are just pretentious and are great pretenders.

I agree, most of us pretend for the benefit of others, not wanting to complain. And yes, there are those who are pretentious, trying to be something they are not.

I think we are all pretenders as we were taught to be and we value our privacy.

I don't think people are fake. They carry on without complaining or wearing their hear on their sleeve. It's called modesty, respect, and good manners.

That is a kind of self-defense, and it is considered a virtue to hide your frustration and feelings behind a poker face. This is also known as emotional intelligence.

Some times people also pretend that they are NOT feeling good, when they really are. There are definitley "fake" people out there for what ever reason.

For some of us it's dangerous to reveal who we really are, so we have to pretend to be like everyone else until we have enough safeguards in place. I have been wanting to reveal my true self for ages.

I think It's normal to hide. We are all private persons who have to deal with the public so we smile and behave the way we are taught to be, with consideration for their private lives too. There is nothing wrong with that. It is part of life.

Sometimes it's necessary to hide, or minimize our feelings for practical reasons. Things have to be accomplished, work must be done and the world keeps turning regardless of our emotional state. Sometimes, (not always) it's easier to keep moving, when we keep our feelings in check. This isn't always healthy, I realize. It's a complicated tightrope, I think.
