Thank God for Dirty Dishes

When I was in Bible College, we all had to take our turn at doing dishes, as well as other duties. I was thinking today about a poem that was posted over the sink in the kitchen. So I want to share it with you today. Thank God For Dirty Dishes Author Unknown Thank God for dirty dishes; They have a tale to tell. While others may go hungry, We're eating very well With home, health, and happiness, I shouldn't want to fuss; By the stack of evidence, God's been very good to us. Doing the dishes was the chore I liked best then. And I don't mind doing dishes today. Like the poem says, they remind us that we had food to eat. Truly we have been blessed

I remember that my Gramma used to have a little printed poem of this.

@AnneEJ An Aunt of mine worked as a missionary in Peru, with the very poor, and she would tell my Gramma about her experiences down there when she was home for visits, and it always hit home with my Gramma that we had it so well in our country. She never took anything for granted.

That is a very good point and I think we should all remind ourselves of it often.

Whenever we think of it, it should make us very thankful

One of my aunts used to say something similar to this. Very wise.

We have so much to be thankful for. I can always find something in my cupboard or fridge to make a meal, and that is something we just take for granted. There are so many who do not have this.

That's for sure. Those people in Ecuador and Japan where they have had earthquakes this last week, probably don't have dishes left.

I would rather do dishes than clean windows or the oven.

@MarymargII Fortunately, I don't use my oven that much and have a foil liner on the bottom rack, so it doesn't need cleaning that often.

I love that! What a wonderful reminder of God's many blessings. Like the time my husband was complaining about so much food in the refrigerator that he couldn't find what he was looking for. I said, "Well, praise God!" He said, "You know, you're right."

It is certainly something to praise God for, knowing that we have food ahead.
