The Inverse Click-Pay Law

Joe Pinchpenny, the Ad Broker

You figured you could make some decent money by advertising your blog, right? You receive visits to your site. Not just ordinary visits, you receive click-on-advertisement visits, too. In fact, they are on the rise. Let's call those ad clicks the variable C. Now the money per ad that is clicked, we'll call A. Granted, not all ads (and not all times of day ads are viewed) are equal, right? So we'll realize A is the amount per average ad rate. Thus, the equation for our money should read: Payment = A x C. And if our ad clicks are on the rise, our pay should go up, right? That is, next month, you should receive a little more than last month, right? Apparently not right. You see, if C goes up, it can be countered by the advertising broker. How is that? They lower A! Yes, the give you less money per click. The average for an ad goes down. Now these are tough times. Is it going down a little as a result? Read my lips: Try P-L-U-M-M-E-T, as in plummeting neckline. My clicks are on the rise, but my pay is falling. Cool, huh? So maybe we all need to stop putting up blogs for advertisement pay, and become advertisement brokers ourselves. Then we, too, could pocket a little change with the best of 'em.

I am making almost no money on my blog except when a post goes viral which has only happened once but I still keep at it since this is the only way I can really control my content.. The good days I think are over for content sites and blogs.

Hi. Yes, viral. Ah it is so seldom chemistry goes viral, though I've had about 100,000 hits on my soap-vs-detergent article since its inception. You look awfully familiar. Were you on AC, or its later version, Y!CN?

Hardly seems right does it? I don't do blogs so it doesn't affect me but I'm sorry you pay is going down.
