"Heart of Glass" was Blondie's first number one American hit and on the blockbuster "Parallel Lines" album taking the band to international stardom. The song was labeled disco sellout by the band's early hardcore fans. Debbie Harry liked disco and covered Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" at CBGBs. She and Chris Stein wrote "Once I Had a Love" in 1975 that turned into the disco influenced "Heart of Glass." Fans called it selling out. Harry stated "Heart of Glass" was pop while Stein said electronic influenced by Kraftwerk. Blondie moved from the punk scene into commercial success as "Heart of Glass" was huge especially in dance clubs and remains one of the band's signature songs.

I remember all the "sellout" talk. Don't know why, it's a great song.

John, I can't even think of a Blondie song. I am basically a country or gospel music person. So that kind of limits my artists to this area. But Heart of Glass sounds great. You have a great day my friend.

Blondie is not for everybody. We all have differing tastes.
