How Do You Enjoy Your Salad?

I just got back from the store with some romaine for a salad. I enjoy putting cranberries, and seeds in it if I remember, which I did just a bit ago. The picture is the salad I made for my supper tonight. I began with romaine greens and added a small handful of cranberries, a small amount of shredded cheese, some pumpkin seeds and crunchy toppings that have expired, but seem fine. I used Kraft's catalina dressing.
I thought about including some tuna from a can, but I already had chicken and rice as my main meal so left that out for today.
Do you enjoy salads and if so what do you like putting in them?

@davidalicea100 You may want to be careful with the swearing, David. It looks like the system allowed that to go through, but you might offend some.

@MarshaMusselman I like the 'cos' lettuce, but there are lots of kinds.

@jaboUK The lettuce we all grew up on, or most of s anyway is called iceberg over here. Many have veered away from eating only that one as it is loaded with water but possibly not that many vitamins. Even then, we do sell a lot of it every day. People also buy romaine, red romaine, green and red leaf lettuce and a variation of lettuces and other greens like dandelion and mustard greens and many more.

Lettuce and tomato are good choices too. I just don't have tomatoes in the house on a regular basis. What kind of lettuce is most common over there?

Chicken salad usually has some type of mayonnaise in it and therefore doesn't need any other dressings. That's really a different type of salad though, and used more for picnics and quick meals. A lot of people eat chicken salad as a sandwich, do you do that at all?

@MarshaMusselman I won't use that word anymore if you don't like it

@davidalicea100 Well, thanks. I'm sure others here don't like it either. And it serves no real purpose. I hear enough of that type of talk around here, that I don't want to be reading it too, but I consider that a mild form of swearing.
Thanks for all the feedback.

I like Caesar salads also. I don't particularly like Greek salads because I don't like olives of any color. I also really like Taco Salads, but to keep it simple at home, I'll use taco chips, crushed and put those and the toppings on a plate and mix everything together. Yum.

I enjoy eating salads and anything I put in there as long as they're yummy, then it's fine.

I put onions and carrots in mine. I never use dressing with my salads.

I love salads! I mix romaine with spinach and add bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots, raisins, pineapple chunks, cheese and croutons with ranch. Oh yes and tomatoes too. I wish I had some lettuce right now. I would love a big salad!

Growing up, I remember my mom had the same veggie salad every time she served salad (sorry, but that was quite boring). So now that I have my own family, I try to change things up all the time. Essentially I throw in whatever we have on hand . . . but some of the varied ingredients would include: chopped up boiled eggs, pomegranate seeds, sugar snap peas, sliced mushrooms (always fresh), chia seeds, apples, grapes, avocado . . . basically whatever!

I keep shredded cheese in the house for that reason, but sometimes I forget to include especially after winter since I don't eat as much salads when it's colder in the house.

I love a loaded salad with all sorts of stuff....croutons, cherry tomatoes, sliced beets, sliced red onion, sunflower seeds and bacon bits and of course blue cheese dressing (usually I like to top it off with some grilled chicken)

No matter how much I've tried it, I can't manage blue cheese dressing even though both my mom and sister enjoy that. I'm surprised that I do like feta cheese as I thought it tastes similar to what I'd expect blue cheese to be like, but I've been told it's not the same at all.
Recently I've had thinly sliced raw brussel sprouts in my salad that I buy pre-chopped from Dole and another manufacturer where I work.

I like the salad mixes too. I especially enjoy the chopped salad mixes and many these days include thinly sliced brussel sprouts. I'd never have thought to try them raw, but they are quite good in these salads. In the summer months I'll have a salad for lunch and supper, but in the winter I don't have them quite so often as I like to eat warmer foods since it's chilly in the house even though we got new insulation a few years ago.

@MarshaMusselman Me too Marsha. I'm not a big brussels sprouts fan. I have a side salad for supper with a frozen food dinner, pasta or quesadillas. Good idea.
