Have you lost faith in humanity?

I saw this video on FB about a social experiment which was done to gauge people’s honesty. A guy was walking in a crowded street, he reached for his pocket to answer his phone, his wallet fell, and the experiment started. Sadly, most of the people who saw this incident picked up the wallet but didn’t return it to the owner. They must be loyal members of the ‘Finder’s Keepers’ gang and kept the wallet for themselves. Sad truth.
One time I had dinner with my friends in a local restaurant. After we finished off everything in our plate, we paid the bill and left. We were almost to the train station when I realized I didn’t have my phone with me. I was sure it was on the table at the restaurant. We immediately headed back to the place with my heart sinking so low. I was ready to be phone-less. Before we could go inside the resto, a young man wearing a familiar vest with the restaurant logo greeted us with a warm smile. He handed my phone to me and I was speechless. He said the customer who came after us returned it to them. So much for not having faith in humanity. Or maybe I was lucky?

What happened to you is a rare happening in our country. I was in Universal Studios in Singapore having fun when I realised i didn't have my phone with me anymore. Thirty minutes had passed already. went back to where i thought i left it and it was still there. I was told nobody would touch it in Singapore since there's CCTV everywhere and it's common practice by people there not to touch somebody else's stuff.

From my experience, I would say that at times we are fortunate that an honest person found the lost item. Yes, they still exist!

I think it's kind of silly when people say they've lost faith in humanity because that would mean that they themselves cannot do the right thing. They'd refer to humanity as a whole and that would include them. I always say, if you want to see a hero, be the hero you want to see.

There are still a lot of good people out there.
I had also seen one on Fb, a homeless man found $2500 and he didn't keep the money. He turned it over with the authorities and after this, people started to raise money for him, but he didn't accept it. He said, what he wanted was to have a job.

@sol_cee They didn't tell if they gave him a job. Hihihi! But it is so inspiring that he returned the money and didn't accept the money that was raised even he badly needs it.

That is awful. Where did this take place. I have always thought that the majority of people are honest and I still believe it. I don't believe everything I see on Facebook.

I think it's one of those things where there are still 'good' people in the world....and you had your phone returned to you..., another time .... you may not ....

It's best to always think the best when dealing with society these days, as there are still good souls out there that I have come across. Many times people have let me pass while walking down a crowded street. I feel caring individuals are made that way from upbringing.
