Back on the Bike

After last week's Storm of the Century, our weather has finally turned around to the way it ought to be: high's in the 60's and 70's all weekend.
For me, that means getting on my mountain bike and going for a ride. I have a yearly goal of riding at least a thousand miles for the year, and I'm not getting any closer not being able to ride in the snow (I don't function well in cold weather.)
I only rode 11 miles today, but it's the first time this year that I've done this particular route in under an hour.
I almost got wiped out in an intersection, and it totally was my fault. I did something that adds to motorists hatred of cyclists. I didn't even look to see if anyone was turning left and just blew through the intersection. Dude gunned it and came close enough that I figured I was going to hit the pavement.
Anyway, the photo is my bike leaning against a mural located on the bike path. Please ignore the finger in the corner.

@teamfreak16 As soon as someone charges for a photo, they become professional. Doesn't always mean they're any good.

Once at a Mountain Bike festival, right after we had come back down into the valley, their photographer took a team photo of us (we even made it into the next year's brochure.) We then asked him to take one with our disposable camera. Professional photographer, and there was his big thumb right in the picture.

@JudyEv - In this case, he obviously wasn't, although his photo of us that made it into the brochure was pretty good. I think I have it on Facebook.

Isn't it? I have no idea who did it. Around the corner it's graffiti art. It's really good, too. They change the art every few years.

Usually, I'm very cautious, but today I almost paid the price for not doing so.

I am glad too. Might have destroyed my bike, let alone what might have happened to me.

The funny thing is, I've crossed that intersection at least a hundred times, with no problem. Today I just failed to remain vigilant to my surroundings. I got lucky.

You have a speedometer keeping track of your mileage?

Yes, I have a bike computer, and then I enter the stats for each ride on bikejournal.com. Cool website. Keeps track of your mileage and you get to compare yourself to other cyclists.
