Today is April 23rd and according to available records, the famous English poet and playwright, William Shakespeare, was born some time during the month of April and died on April 23, 1616.
Most people like to share their favorite quotes by Shakespeare. The one below is mine. Although many are familiar with his works, “Hamlet” and “Macbeth”, this quote comes from “The Merchant of Venice”. It was required reading in high school.
“The quality of mercy is not strained;
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes ...”
Since today is a day to celebrate the life of this well-known bard, I'm going to comb through myLot posts and see if others have started discussions about him. Sounds like fun huh?

I found that the key to understanding Shakespeare was in having a good English teacher who could dissect his works and get you to understand them. I will always remember Mrs. Rivera. She taught in such a way that she infected me with Shakespeare and with other great literary writers.

You read Shakespeare when you were 11 years old? That's impressive!

Thanks for this, I didn't know April 23 is Shakespeare's birthday! Young people would remember him for his novel Romeo and Juliet, a love story.

People are not 100% sure it's his birthday but they think they're in the ballpark.
