We got the fence removed

We decided to just take our fence out ourselves instead of paying someone to remove it. Taking the chain link part down was time consuming but fairly easy. The hard part was the posts. There were two posts in our way for some landscaping we want to do, so they had to be removed. The one we were able to break some of the cement off of to make it easier to pull out but in the attempt to loosen it, the post broke. Thankfully we had been able to break the cement off enough that the chunk that is remaining is out of our way. The other post we were more careful with and after breaking some of the cement off, and some help from the neighbor, we were able to get that post pulled out. We decided to just cut the remaining 13 posts off at the concrete instead of trying to pull them out too. We got 11 of them done, but are waiting on the other two. We have an internet cable that needs burying and has been marked that goes through that area so we don't want to mess up their marks by digging down to the cement before they bury the cable. Hopefully that will be done this week. Once we had the fence down we had to get rid of it. We had two options, cleanup week is coming up soon or we could put it on Craigslist. Cleanup week allows us to throw away almost anything and the city will pick it up for free. We are not allowed to throw out old TVs and computer monitors or chemicals, but pretty much everything else for that one week. We decided to put it on Craigslist and if it didn't go we'd put it out for cleanup week. I thought I'd get a few people that were interested, but not nearly the amount of interest that I did get. I had around 50 people call and text wanting the fence. I'm glad it's gone now.

That sounds like a big job to take it down and get rid of it. I can imagine you are happy it is over. Craigs list is where I look for roofing slate when I am in the states.

It's good that someone wanted the fence and that it is out the way. I would much rather give something away than throw it out.

I like it. Why pay somebody to do what you can for free. Way to save some $$

I'm glad you were able to get it removed and hauled away! We have curbside pickup, too.
