Hollywood was believed to be, by many, a breeding ground for immorality. In truth, it has been. But some artistic triumphs have also been produced there.
A series concerning Hollywood, entitled Hollywood and the Stars, was narrated by Joseph Cotten and produced by David L. Wolper. It in itself, is truly revealing, truly entertaining.
I just finished watching an episode entitled Anatomy of a Movie, about the filming of The Cardinal, by Otto Preminger. A few of the episodes titles available at YouTube for viewing include:
The Man Called Bogart
The Swashbucklers
Those Fabulous Musicals
Monsters We've Known and Loved
Hollywood Goes to War
and
In Search of Kim Novak
Why not try watching an episode to see what sort of viewpoint modification you may experience? If nothing else, the theme song is magnificently beautiful, being written by Elmer Bernstein.

This is a vintage documentary series made when the "nostalgia" boom hit. I didn't see the Cardinal episode. Did it get into how Preminger brutalized star Tom Tryon into mutual hatred? Anyway, didn't Joseph Cotten possess a terrific voice?

What you refer to is mentioned in the episode, though it is cast in a different light. And yes, Joseph Cotten had a great voice and was a very satisfactory actor.

I downloaded it, but have yet to watch it. She was great in Vertigo.
