Top 10 Favorite New Order Songs #5 - "Temptation"

In 1982, British alternative band New Order (classic lineup: Guitarist/vocalist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook, drummer Stephen Morris, and keyboardist Gillian Gilbert) did not release an album, but did put out "Temptation," a single that showed that the group was well on it's way to becoming a highly influential electronic dance band.
"Temptation" was not a massive hit like it's follow-up, 1983's "Blue Monday," but it did ok: Top 40 (#29) on the UK Singles Chart, #1 on Britain's Independent Singles Chart, and it made inroads to the States at #68 on Billboard's US Dance Chart.
"Temptation" was only available as a single until it's inclusion on the 1987 compilation Substance, where it sounds just groovy alongside higher-charting singles such as "Blue Monday" and "True Faith."
In fact, as far as I'm concerned, it's almost as good as those two singles, and is one of the best songs on the compilation. It's position at #5 on my Top 10 Favorites series seems just right: a great dance song from a band that could seemingly do them in their sleep.
@JohnRoberts started these Top 10 Series'. You are more than welcome, encouraged, even, to join the fun.

Best dance song ever, as far as I'm concerned. And I'm leaving it out of this series, because I recently used it in another series.

I always liked this one. Not as somber as others. Temptation was played a lot on alternative radio.

I know, and I also knew a lot of people who owned it. Between the two, you'd think it would've charted a bit higher.
