Love. It's wonderful how this little 4-lettered word has the strongest hold over our lives. It's pitiful how the absence of this abstract thing can make our lives miserable. It's sad. It's happy. It's all the things anything can be, yet it is nothing like anything else. The very unique feature of love is that you can only feel it through something or someone. You need a medium to carry love for you. Love cannot exist in space. Almost like light! You need a surface for light to fall upon, if you have to see light. So does love, so that it can light up our lives! Love for me came in the form of Richard. He was young, he was lively, his eyes glistened every time he looked at me. He could run miles just to reach me, he could spend his life just with my caresses. I witnessed love in Richard, I witnessed love in his furs. The 4-lettered word was evenly spread all over his million hairs.

So.. Im thinking is richard a dog. No offense, what comes to mind when you mention furs. The way you describe the four letter word is nice.. Indeed it is a short word but it sure makes the world go round

A thought provoking poem, hope you do find true love, both with a pet to adore and with a worthy partner

It sure is! Not necessarily humans, animals can give and receive love too. In fact, I feel that they do it better.
