latest phone scam called me, has it called you?

One of the latest phone scams has been one that will typically call your land line. So those of you without a landline might not get this one. But its an automated sounding call saying they are from Microsoft and there's a problem with your computer software. I've gotten this call several times on my answering machine. It's a scam that I saw reported on the news. Much like the US's IRS they don't call you! On the news you usually see them showing an elderly couple being scammed out of money ect. Now I wonder how many elderly of this sort of scam fall for it? As there are not as many elderly with computers for them to prey on as the younger generations would probaby have. Has the auto dialer of whatever scam group called your phone yet? Or do you get other scam calls?

What we get are pesky calls from the insurance and telecommunications companies pushing their products endlessly.

@3SnuggleBunnies That's better because it's easier to throw them into the bin rather than hear the blah-blah on the phone :O

No, not getting this one. I do have a landline. Last year it was some Indian sounding people calling and saying they were Dell. That they were calling people to let them know that someone had hacked into their PC's and were using our ISPs, At first this freaked me out but I quickly realized it was a scam. They wanted money to be able to go in and check my computer. I called Dell and they assured me they didn't do this. And I also called my ISP. These scammers are so aggravating.

I get scam text telling me my mobile subscriber has billed me excessively and to fix the issue i have to text them a certain amount. That would actually transfer money to them. I was never a victim of that lousy scam.

I've never gotten a scam text. I've only gotten ones in error from people when we switched phone and were not able to keep the number we had.

@infatuatedbby My land line doesn't have that feature. I think if it does it's an extra charge? As I recalled years ago they may of offered a feature when 1-900's were rampant

@sunrisefan I see. Our home phone has a block option. We have a Panasonic home phone with the feature to block.

We can do that for the mobile phone but not with the landline - in our country at least.

We get this one from time to time. My sister used to get these calls before she even got a computer.

It is amusing that they assume that everyone has a computer. But I guess with modern times the majority do and they are hoping to find a sucker in that majority.

@3SnuggleBunnies That's very true. They're always a bit dumbstruck if you say you don't have a computer.

I never answer my landline. Nobody ever calls me on it. I only keep it so the kids have a line in case of emergency when they're home.

I have been getting calls from this company for years, they get very rude and nasty. I got tired of it so I bought myself an air horn, they don't seem to call as often anymore but I am sure some of them have some hearing problems by now

No, because only my parents and siblings know my number. I don't answer calls from anyone except them.

That's the advice I give my kids as well as to which calls to answer.
