Got my taxes back

I ended up paying someone this year to do them. Iam in no mind frame to get them done and sit down. It was about $50 for him to do it. I owe the government about a $1,000 this year which isn't bad compared in the past. So now I need to rearrange my budget and figure out how I will pay them.

We had to pay $250 to get our taxes prepared! Yikes! I had to pay a penalty for six months not having insurance! Thank God I now have Medicare. I have not been able to have insurance for years, due to cost. Even on Obamacare it would have been $500 a month!

Wow! $250 for them to do it. Do you have a business or something?. Mine is a simple single person no business so its very straight forward tax return. My parents was $170 but they are a couple and have a business. Iam confused why do you paya penalty?. Here because I have no benefits with my work, and no government assistance I claim all medical and they then subtract that from my taxes (because I have to pay medication, and other things out of pocket).

@ricki_911 I work as independent contractor online but no, we do not have a business. The penalty is because I did not have health insurance which came down in Obamacare.

@Margielynn So if you don't have health insurance you have to pay the government?.

Too bad about owing them. At least usually I think you can get on some payment plan with the IRS hopefully. (Or whoever is in charge in Canada of revenue/collecting taxes).
