It is very common for me to offer a seat to the elders and the children. Most of the time people accept to it happily and say thank you. A few of them will accept it but say nothing. That's OK. A few of them will decline it with thanks and it will make me feel embarrassed to sit down again.

even though they decline, should tell us with thanks, it will make us comfortable.

i offered my seat many times, some of them declined. i feel that the old person's question is unnecessary. if he/she doesnt like the offer, a simple no and a smile to decline are enough.

I commend you for giving up your seat to the elderly ? What if it's not an elderly but a girl , would you also ?

When I saw some aged people or pregnant women riding with me on a bus, I'll offer my seat and they're happy having it and say thank you.
