what's your good treatment for kid's fever

my kid is only 4 years old, he had a special condition, he will suffer convulsions while fever temperature high more 39.5 degree, we are very afraid of convulsion, doctor told us no worry, it's not serious, he will be ok while grow up more than 6 years ago. i am worried about before 6 years old, if temperature is below 39.5, he will be ok. so could you share me good treatment for kid's fever? i could do at home.
