Have you had braces?

I am one of the few adults that have braces. I had to wait until I could afford to buy them on my own, my mom certainly wasn't going to do it. Have you ever had them, did they work for you? I have only had mine for about four months and they are working it just seems like every time I go in to have them tightened the Ortho is not happy with the results and makes extreme changes everytime. So I am always in pain, so I am not loving the braces.

Hi! I'm also an adult with braces. I, too couldn't afford them (and probably still can't) when I was younger. I've had them for about 2 months now and I am seeing a bit of a difference. I now have a slight gap in between my front two teeth. It looks kinda cute & my braces are "pink", I just hope to be happy with the end result, too b/c they are very pricey. I go in for a tightening on the 12th of December. Wish me luck y'all!!

I wore them when I was in high school. I remember the pain very well. I also still prefer my apples cut into pieces and my corn cut off of the cob, but that's another story.
I don't think I'll ever forget one particular day at the orthodontist's office. He had tightened the braces and it hurt particularly bad that day. I think I even cried. He took me into his office and showed me a picture of his daughter with a beautiful smile and he told me that he was doing what he was doing so that my smile would be that beautiful too. Looking back now, it's a bit corny, but it was terribly effective at the time, and more than 20 years later I still remember.
Hang in there. You really will be pleased with your smile when it's done.

Shame man! I had braces for years and years and I can clearly remember the pain.. it's constant headgrinding pain that doesnt seem to go away.
The braces definately made a difference to my looks though - even though I dont have perfect teeth because I was naughty about wearing the corrective plate afterwards!
The pain is worth it - imagine having a gorgeous picture perfect smile :) It will make the pain more bearable...

I never had braces and didn't need them. My son has worn braces for two years. I'm glad that we were able to get these for him. His teeth have straightened out immensely since he had the braces put on. We make a monthly payment for his teeth. I never would have been able to afford these otherwise.

I never had braces, but now my dentist tells me that I am having a problem grinding my teeth at night and in about 3 years or so the problem will be severe. He wants me to get a teeth guard to wear at night while sleeping and also during the day when I am not around people.
Hope your braces start to feel better soon.

I got my braces when I was a freshman in high school! What a wonderful time to get them, huh! I was really self-conscious but when I got them of my junior year, I was really happy about the results.
