Transgenders using bathrooms/fitting rooms of their choice, not their gender status on their birth certificate

Earlier this year, Target rolled out with Caroline’s Carts, a shopping cart designed with a chair for an older children or adult with mobility-related disabilities to be able to sit in. I have seen a few Caroline's Carts in my area and that is a wonderful! Many appreciated Target's efforts in carrying for their customers!
- Now -
There is a big controversy with Target allowing transgenders to use bathrooms and fitting rooms of their choice. There is a current debate in the U.S. for individuals to use the corresponding bathroom or fitting room with the gender associated to their birth certificate - even - if they consider themselves transgender.
What are your thoughts? I honestly do not know. I guess personally, I would not be bothered as long as no one is spying on me or something. Everyone is a human being but I can see others being bothered by it as well. They may not feel comfortable.
If you are interested in the story:
A petition started by the American Family Association on Wednesday raises concerns that Target's inclusive stance on transgender rights encourages sexual predators and puts women and young girls in danger.

I've been hearing all the controversy and I do understand both sides. True transgenders should be allowed to "go" where their gender of choice leads them. However, is it true that this could lead male perverts to dress as women to enter the woman's bathrooms in order to do harm? It's possible. Do we disallow true transgender people their freedom because something bad "might" happen with unscrupulous people? It's definitely something to think about. Our society is changing and we can't just take all the changes lightly. Nothing is simple anymore.

I definitely agree with you. Our society is definitely changing and a lot of people aren't accepting it but we can't control everyone's true gender. If they choose to be who they are and are 'true' then they should be allowed to go to the desired restroom. I cannot relate, but I cannot image what they had to go through, it takes great courage of coming out as well. But then there will be some people who will take advantage of this opportunity to harm not only woman, but men could be harmed as well. I would not want a man who is not a transgender but maybe in the exploring stage, or not even at all but want to spy on women in the changing rooms or something as an example. And, transgenders do not want their own restroom either because that would make them different and not apart of a gender.

@infatuatedbby That's correct, they don't want their own restroom because they say that will make them different, and then I hear a lot saying they want to "stand out" from the crowd, good debate topic

So target wants to allow them to use either bathroom they want or they are against it? I had assumed they were against it. To me when you have to go you have to go I could not care less which restroom they use. I do not feel like I will be attacked inside a public bathroom. Target has a family bathroom where it is just one person to use at a time. I liked that when my children were little as it was easier to keep them with me in that bathroom then in one with many stalls where the could run out the door on me. I had not heard about these adult shopping carts until this post.

They are allowing customers to choose their choice of bathroom. Many are against that option and are boycotting Target if they go forward with their decision.
Yes, now they have adult shopping carts.

As long as they are genuine transgender it's okay .. but how if they are only pretending for whatever reasons? .. Maybe they should provide them with a separate fitting rooms .. But I honestly don't know.. we humans are always looking for things that will make life complicated ..

As long as no harm is being done - then it should be fine in my opinion.

I know a lot of people are having an uproar about this onFacebook. I don't really have a personal opinion, and I have seen transgenders in the washroom here, didn't bother me.

Doesn't bother me also! As long as they're respectful too, and not harming anyone.

I really do not care and we do not have this kind of problems because our places are small, sometimes we have toilets that is shared by men and women. May be we have the habit so we are not shocked. As you say the important is the privacy.

That makes sense! Toilets to be shared by men/women, then no problem.

Yes! There are some transgenders who do go through surgeries to have the body parts they claim to be should be entitled to the restroom they're now associated to in my opinion.

I think use the single stall. The trans person may feel more comfortable using a women's rest room but most girls and women won't and I've learned that majority rules. The trans people have other ways also, where the girls don't. This comes from a social liberal.

Yes - that is correct. Majority rules and the transgender people are being put to the side. They want to show their gender, but many aren't accepting. Society is changing though, so rules will need to be made..
