Do you know someone who suffers from mental illness?

This may be a silly question, but do you know someone who is affected by mental illness.. Or maybe you, yourself, have a form of mental illness, even? I think that, probably everyone knows someone.. Personally, I have bi polar disorder, as well as anxiety. I take quite a bit of medication to try to settle the problem, it helps to an extent.. But I know I should also be doing other things, such as exercising regularly, and other things to help my brain. Image from: https://pixabay.com/en/anxiety-word-cloud-word-chronic-1337383/

I have been living with Antisocial Personality Disorder as long as I can remember, which has brought on symptoms of other disorders, such as anxiety and depression. I can only imagine what life with bipolar disorder is like, as my father has it, but I can understand having to take medications and do therapy and the like.

That sounds tough. Truthfully, I do not think I have ever heard of Antisocial Personality Disorder, but I think I have an idea of what it is. Yes, bipolar can be a rough go, but I am sure, just like with the disorder that you have, we learn to live with it, and we cope :)

I know several people with mental illness of different sorts and I have discovered that the word "normal" is just a word. We all have a disorder of some sort. Some of us have more, some of us have less. Pills and a good psychiatrist (or neurologist depending on what it is) help.

Yes, good point about normal just being a word! :) Also, another valid point you make.

Wow, we are much alike then, though I do not have the borderline personality disorder. That must be a lot to deal with, do you take medications to cope with everything, or try to deal with it naturally?

@mawdest I take three medications to help me and a sleeping med on and off. I also see an therapist every week and have a case manager that helps me.

@Lolaze Thank you for sharing! I take a bunch of medications, I believe it is three as well (sometimes there is so much it is hard to count lol) I also take a sleeping pill. I have not seen a therapist or a psychiatrist for a long time, I probably should try to some time soon.

I know two people who have mental illness. These two particular people don't realize they are mentally ill and as a result they wont seek help.

Oh no, that sounds like a bad situation. I hope they can eventually realize what is going on with them, and they seek the help they need!
