I was watching a program yesterday about shark attacks in New Jersey in 1916.
It was very interesting to learn about this as I had no idea sharks came in that close to shore.
This happened in July during a deadly summer heat wave and it was believed the sharks were the Great Whites.
There was a panic not only among the locals but it was granted National news coverage.
After a number of people were bitten the mayor finally decided to close down the beaches.
There were shark hunters coming to the town even though the beach was closed.

People have been attacked many times in just a foot of water. they go where the 'food' is.

The lifeguard kept saying it was a shark but since he didn't see it nor did anyone else see it so they did nothing until it happened to a few more people.

It would sure make you think about going near the beach again.

They are scary. I wonder if it has to do with the lack of food cause the stuff they eat goes elsewhere when it gets so hot. Hmm.

It seems that fish change their ways depending on the temperature of the sea.

@marguicha
Yeah it seems the warmer water was what brought them to New Jersey is what it implied.

Wow, that is one of a few things I don't like about the ocean, sharks...Other creatures are the jellyfish and what was that creature that killed the alligator guy? Anyways, I guess regardless of where one is, there is always potential for danger, whether wildlife or wild people.
