The Great Pub debate.

Last night i went out to celebrate my friends birthday at a local pub. I had a very interesting, disappointing, and down right odd conversation with a drunk gentleman there. it consisted of an hour of arguing over opinion vs fact. His take on it was that no matter what if someone says its an opinion then it cant be proven wrong because its there opinion. I disagreed. This was after the hour conversation on why in his opinion the earth is flat, and the government has brainwashed me into thinking otherwise. Which i said was Proven false there for its not an opinion its a false statement. After losing my friends and arguing with this guy for close to two hours i had to walk away. He proceed to follow me all the way to my car trying to convince me that he was right, and the earth was indeed flat. it was pretty Bizarre. Just looking for some input as to when if at all an opinion can be false. Some incite as to why people believe such crazy things, and are so determined to make everyone else believe them.

@KayKayx0x same here....I like to know new cultures.....along with internet we can understand other cultures through movies and books...and I do all three of them to know more....

@imravi Yesss! the world is such a better place when people chose to embrace and learn from the diversity in the world, instead of judge and fear what they don't understand.... that's awesome that you choose to embrace it!! =)

Thank you. =) Pretty good so far.I love talking to new people. We live in such a diverse world with so many amazing people and cultures to learn from. if you don't have the means to travel the world the next best thing is the internet.

There has been many researches which say that earth can be flat...lol
It's pretty bizarre statement and the people who take it as truth are also bizarre. .. but it's possible that we are wrong...this doesn't mean that I also believe earth is flat. ...

Ive been reading the articles, there are apparently celebrities who believe the earth is flat too.. lol I think if he had a good argument as to why he thought that instead of saying its just my opinion i would of not of been so determined to debate the issue. I brought up the fact that if it wasn't for a knowledge of the earth being round we would of never been able to go into space, how satellites work, and the measure of the suns ray and why that tells us the earth is round ect. His argument was that humans never went to space and satellites are not real and everything i said was completely false. hahah very bizarre man

I love it when you can back up facts and prove the opinion.
Sometimes it's fun and entertaining to talk to guys, but two hours is a bit much.
