I am so terrified when I logged on to my Facebook, it said that it is attacked with malware virus. It cannot be opened. My account might have been affected with this because I keep on sharing different You Tubes and messages containing an election campaign of my Presidential bet Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Those I sent might have contained malware virus. There is a message flashed on screen that the computer itself through its anti virus cleans the system containing the malware. Please, let me know if this kind of virus malware could be removed? I have almost 3,000 friends and hundreds of important photos in my Facebook. Do I need a technician? Thanks. I am very much worried, sickening problems I am facing this time. Photo credit by Pixabay

I do not believe your Facebook account can be infected as it is much more likely it is your computer that is infected with adware or malware.I would download a free antivirus program like McAfee or avast and scan your computer. If this doesn't help you can ask for help on a tech forum and that may be helpful- good luck, viruses are no fun-

I'm not an expert, but if you have good virus protection run a scan. It should get rid of it. I have good virus protection. It always alerts me when it has detected and gotten rid of the problem.

The virus is only in my Facebook.Facebook thru its malware remover is doing the cleaning now almost 8 hours. Why is this so, because of many You tubes I shared and videos shared. I am helping my supporters of our Presidential candidate Duterte through the apps in Facebook, This is my suspicion where I got the malware.

Run Malwarebytes. Also run a security scan. When you get back on Facebook, change your password first thing. If it is only on FB, someone might have taken over your account. I don't know for sure. But try Malwarebytes and your security first.

@cacay1 It was several years ago. Somebody put spam messages on it and they were all over my friends walls. It was a mess and I had to prove I owned the account. I ran an apology message on my status and went and tried to erase the spam from friends walls. Another time, someone in Miami hacked my account and took it over. I was able to prove it was my account and changed the password to something so complicated that I could not get in sometimes.

If the Software does not work there is only one other option and that is to do a recovery on the Computer as in taking it back to factory settings or get a Tech to try and remove it your Photos on Facebook will not be affected and once you have this sorted it might be an Idea to get one drive or Dropbox for your Photo's that way you will never loose them if you do have to reset your Laptop

Sorry that happened to you. Is your laptop alright now? Is the scanning done? Kaspersky is one of the famous anti-virus software. If it didn't help, perhaps you can try to use other anti-virus software to try and remove the malware virus. I am not expert in this, but I usually just get my anti-virus software to do the work for me. Do you already have anti-virus software installed in your laptop? Perhaps you can use it to do a full system scan. Hope it's been solved by now.

Dear Erly, you can create a new facebook account with a new password. But atleast file a First Information Report before the police mentioning about what had happenned.

@cacay1 Thanks Erly. It is great to know that your Facebook Account is fine. Once it had happened that my gmail account got hacked. I informed everyone about it, so that the hacker cannot take advantage of my account.

Yeh, I think Chance is correct on this, if it were FB then they would be taking care of it at their end-to me it sounds like it is something on your computer-if it tells you to download something, then don't, because it might just be looking to install something on your computer-it's best to go to a well trusted site to deal with it re. anti virus software, or you might have to reset your computer back to it's factory settings.
