Just read @JaboUK 's recent post. She mentioned how women used to paint their legs to make it appear as if they were wearing stockings. It reminded me of the historical photos I came upon the day before. Yes, one of those was related to stockings too. Some were beautiful. Some were bone chilling. Some horrifying. Some ..... Uh... I think I will let you decide. The description is given under each photo. See the history like never before... (Photo by pixabay)
Believe It Or Not But It'S True added 60 new photos to the album: Interesting photos taken throughout history.

As @Corbin5 says, women often painted the seam down the back of the leg to make it look like they had stockings on. There are some amazing photos in the link. Thanks for the share.

@Daljinder I watched them all; some with a sort of fascinated horror. I can't get over the starving men. They look so relaxed really, not stressed at all. I would have thought some of the horrors of what they'd gone through would have shown in their faces.

I wasn't aware of the stockings thing. It was interesting thing to learn. I thought people may like seeing the pictures sonI brought it here. Thanks! I found the war ones scary. Did you see the starved Australian soldiers? And that little girl from concentration camp drawing a picture of home? Truly heartbreaking. You are welcome!

@JudyEv I believe that relaxation was due to the ending of all the horrors. A relief. The horror would have hit them later on though. And quite strongly too.

@Daljinder Cannot be. You were born at least two decades ago and that suffices to be historical

@thesids My parents did get married smack dab in the middle of 1982 riots and in Delhi too. So, that is historical. Me not so much!

That's because I am not history. I am very much in the present.

@Daljinder I've been through all those photos and found them really interesting, thanks. I'm pleased that you came across that one of women painting their legs, as it corroborates my post

@Daljinder I had seen some of the pictures before - the war ones - they illustrate the horror of war so well. Just corrected my spelling mistake 'corroborates'. It really makes me flinch when I re-visit a comment and see I've made a mistake

You are welcome. I would have forgotten all about those pictures if your post hadn't reminded me of it.. The little girl drawing home on the board was chilling. That picture have a slight glimpse of the horror in the concentration camps. As well as those of bones of war casualties. Starved Australian soldiers. Berlin, Germany after war. The shell shocked soldier. (Shiver)
