Windows 10 - at my wits' end

Once again I had problems with a missing start button on Windows 10 tonight. This time it wasn't coming back so easily but I eventually discovered that removing the Dropbox app would fix it.
Unfortunately by the time I discovered that I'd tried clicking on Microsoft Edge, which promptly disappeared. So I've now got my start button back and reinstalled Dropbox, but none of my attempts to get Edge back have worked so far.
One last attempt and then I'm off to bed. It's really late and I was planning a rare early night
I'm really starting to wish I'd stuck with Windows 8.1 but it's too late to go back to it now.

I went from 7 to 10 and back again on this netbook.
I like the 10 laptop but prefer a netbook.
tried 10 on here and it didn't work well with the monitor so reverted back to 7.
You can go back.

@Mike197602 I figured someone here would have the answer. I am personally happy in the stone ages.

@maezee I liked xp too
personally I find 10 perfectly fine but just not on this netbook.
I've still got the flag that says get windows 10 but I won't as the resolution on this netbook monitor isn't good enough to use 10 properly.
But if you do choose to get 10 you can go back as I did.

I have heard that Windows 10 is difficult to figure out but that is what the computer I bought runs off of. It is the most updated version so that is what I bought. I didn't want to buy anything that would need updating soon or like the Windows XP I have no longer support updates at all.

@shaggin You were right not to buy anything that will need updating soon. Eventually Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 7 and 8 too and everyone will be forced to upgrade.
I didn't find Windows 10 that difficult to figure out, but I was upgrading from Windows 8.1, so the changes weren't that drastic. I don't remember how different XP was, so I hope you're not having too much trouble with it.

bless yer heart, i reckon that means yer past yer 30 day thingy? i'd troubles from the get-go when the dang thing installed itself'n this laptop. jumpin' tool bars that first night, next day it'd take fere'er to load 'n finally'd the need to hit f2 to get't to do such. by the 3rd day, i'd nothin' more'n a black screen. took me hours to finally get into't 'n restore back to win 7'n safe mode.
i told win 10 what my troubles were'n what i thought'f their new software. figured that'd be the end'f't. alas, such's not true'n the dang thingy continues to try to re-install 'tself. i'll be madder'n an ol' wet hen if'n such occurs.
best'f luck to ya, hon 'n big hugs!

@crazyhorseladycx Yes, unfortunately I am past 30 days, so I'm stuck with it. What was so frustrating last night was that one problem seemed to lead to another. I think they're all fixed now, but it's always possible that there's something I'm not aware of yet.
Anyway it doesn't sound like any of the problems I've had were as bad as what you experienced. I just hope there are no more nasty problems waiting for me.

@crazyhorseladycx Thanks. I found one more little glitch today, but that wasn't difficult to fix. After the problems I had with a dying computer three years ago, all these problems seem minor by comparison.

I haven't had any problems with Windows 10. But for some reason my browsers are acting funny.

@JESSY3236 How long have you been using Windows 10? It's been okay for me most of the time, but occasionally it does weird things like this.
I hope you're able to sort out your problems with your browsers.

@JESSY3236 I was tempted to do it earlier but I was told to wait until Service Pack 1 came out. Once Windows started scheduling the update for me, I decided to go ahead. I've been happy with it most of the time, but for some reason there seem to be compatibility issues with Dropbox. At least now I know how to deal with them, so it should be fine going forward. I guess when it comes to technology nothing is perfect.

@Gina145 I've been using Windows 10 since it came out. I actually got antsy and forced it on the computer before the computer said it was ready.

I wish I understood your problem a little more clearly. I've had Windows 10 since it first came out and I guess I'm one of the few people who never had a problem. I wish I could help you, but I'm at a loss here. Your computer isn't still under warranty by chance is it? That would allow the company to possibly fix it even while you're online with them!

@CRK109 Thanks for your suggestions Claudia, but I've actually managed to get everything working again.
My computer is about 3 years old and Windows 10 was an upgrade, so there's no free help available if I need it, but I usually manage to find solutions for myself. It's amazing what information one can find online with a little effort.

My old desktop was windows XP and I reformatted it and change to windows8 . It was very slow so I switched it back to windows 7. Seems it's okay now but we seldom use the desktop now for my daughters have laptops, iPhones and iPad minis.

@Macarrosel I only have internet on my desktop. My cellphone is only there for emergencies and I hardly even use it for texting or making calls.

too late in terms of time of the night?
you can always go back to your original OS.
I got 10 and had to go back to 7 as 10 doesn't work well on this netbook.

@Mike197602 Too late in terms of everything.
I'm past 30 days so I can't go back to Windows 8.1. I guess we'll all have to adapt to Windows 10 eventually though, so I guess I can learn to live with it.
But yes, it was also too late in terms of the time of night. I didn't want to leave the problem to fix today, but staying up so late has ruined my day anyway.

@polyxena It's been okay most of the time. Apparently there's some compatibility issue between Windows 10 and the Dropbox app though. At least if this happens to me again I'll know what to do about it without wasting hours doing the wrong thing.
What version of Windows are you using now?

been using Windows 10 since it appeared last summer and never had a problem with it. ok i confess it used to run pretty bad and had a lot of bugs when i upgraded from Windows 8, but then i did a clean install from a CD and it's the best Operating system since then.
