My first Helicopter Ride

This is a photo from the late 1980’s with myself and another passenger just about to take a helicopter tour of Brighton. It cost about £10 for as many minutes but the view of the sea front and Pavilion were breath-taking.
The ride itself was incredibly smooth and comfortable. To date I have yet to repeat the experience but I would love to.

One year when taking students to Europe, we had a positive rate of exchange for our money, so we hired a single engine plane to fly us around in the Alps. It was fabulous!!!

I have ridden in helicopters several times. I loved each trip. Most people in the copter did not. They were frightened. Spoiled the fun for them. Not me. I could do this all the time, if I had the bucks. I even took my daughter up to see Bryce Canyon in Utah in a helicopter when she was eleven. Cost $150 for twenty minutes. Worth every dollar!

@hereandthere I had no fear, and they were all terrified.

It would cost much more now I think, we were able to do that to see into the crater in mount saint helens, something that cost several hundred dollars, too much, but something I had always wanted to do and wont ever do again

@Jessicalynnt I have seen a lot of overpriced tours and short flights here too - I also want to take a balloon flight but they tend to be expensive

you won't do it again because it's overpriced, but did you like the experience itself?

@hereandthere it was a ton of fun, I'd ride again elsewhere but never for what they charged there.

@arthurchappell We loved it. We went by ourselves by train when we visited London our first time. It was a sunny, warm, and beautiful day. We explored everything. I'd return in a heartbeat!

Sounds like you enjoyed it. I have heard of these scenic rides. Must be wonderful to fly over places.
I don't care for the small planes. I have ridden in a couple and they scare me. I guess I am less aware in a big plane. Now I hear in the news where many of the smaller planes crash.

Ten pound seems pretty reasonable even for that time. I've been in a helicopter and the only time I felt the slightest bit uncomfortable was when it hovered in the air. I kept thinking it needs to keep moving to stay up - which is nonsense of course but that is how I felt.

@Dishari I tried taking some but the copter moved too quickly for my old box brownie camera to keep up - my new digitals would have breezed it but they were't invented in the 80's.
