I see more and more people getting addicted to the net , since these days it is easy to access the net through your smart phones ..After Students are dropped at school , I see them sitting on the grounds without attending classes , either playing games or browsing. I feel that if this habit continues unchecked , it can have far reaching impact and come in the way of a child's progress not only in school but later years too.
I see people leaving their work mid way through and spending time either using their mobiles for chatting or browsing . Again here their work suffers...The same with many housewives who prepare a hasty meal and don't really bother about housekeeping and even if they do it is done in a half-hearted manner because they want to spend time on the net.
I seriously wonder whether more and more people are getting addicted to the internet and whether it would have a negative impact on their family life and relationships? pleases share your views ..

There are already plenty of negative effects due to the Internet addiction. People look at their smartphones all the time, there are car accidents, there are people who cross the road and are crashed by cars because they do not move their eyes from their phones. I think we must find a way to block the internet access at certain times of the day.

I agree, easy accessibility through mobile phones has compounded the problems. I witnessed an accident that happened when a youngster , a pillion rider in a motor bike busy with his mobile suddenly lost balance and clutched the rider and as a result the bike and the two riders fell down and were run over by a truck. They had serious injuries but thankfully survived..I too feel that there should be some kind of rule so that you dont use it in certain busy areas ..

Negative impact?
a few days back, there was a train crash in Germany and the reason? The man at the controls was busy playing some game on the cell phone. That is how deep and bad the effect of all this is. (Link beneath).
I dont know if the students thing you mention is same at other countries, but here in India, it is definitely way much higher. And definitely, we are way behind in learning the etiquette of using cell phones.
A few days when I was at INOX watching a movie, I found many just activating their handsets, internet. I dont know why they do this, but it seems they still need to learn. And if elders are this way, definitely the juniors learn from them.

Yes I read about this and I find it very perplexing that one could do that while on duty..We also hear of so many selfie deaths, how could people be so careless ? I have had so many people come crashing against me because they are too busy with their phones not knowing where they are walking.

Nothing in this world is without dual effect, each thing brings with it pros and cons....so a person should understand the need of thing and use it accordingly...your point is right that net is ruining life in some way but not In every way...so it depends on each person as how do they use it.

I do think that this is becoming more and more the norm. The amount of times that I see people out for a meal or a night out with other people and spend half the evening staring at their phones, ignoring everyone around them really is starting to annoy me. Some people use the internet to validate their existence which is quite sad really as their online life becomes more important than real life.

The internet is a much stronger addictive device than television. Once we are in it, we are hooked. I too see most of the youngsters always poking their nose on the net. It definitely has a negative impact on our relationships and social life.

Yes I too find people not being able to pay attention even when they visit you, busy on their phones. I find this quite unsocial. I make it a point not to look at my phone when there are guests at home or when I visit someone or at my work place unless I have free time.

Lots of people are addicted to internet now a days and most of them do spend time in Facebook and other sites. I used to do chatting longtime ago in yahoo chats and chat sites, but now a days does not do it. There are lots of information one can gain through browsing through the internet. One should find balance between life and online life.

I use the internet a lot each day but I do a lot of online freelance type work and reward sites so I am making money I game as well. However I don't let it get in the way of my life. If I have somewhere to go, or someone to see I do it. I have let the cleaning go before to sit down on the computer but I am slowly over the habit, a nice place to live is good on the mind, body and soul.

That was very rightly said Kiran... The Internet smart phone addiction are killing people a lot to such an extent that people have forgotten what s a letter a b'day greetings card and on..... So when these small small things getting faded away what's that guarantees that even a human would fade way from once mind... Really getting freaked thinking about this. .

Facebook, texting, web browsing, playing games.. What could be next? (If I left something out, just let me know; okay?)
And perhaps, there could be a twelve-step type of program for severe addicts of this type of nature, and/or a primary grade school class, that teaches responsible device usage. (Nah.. Make that pre-school.) (lol...)
