I need a new blanket

Well, I don't need exactly, but I want a new blanket. I need something that has more weight than a sheet does, but less than a winter heavy blanket. I can't sleep well without something with a little weight, but what I have is way to hot! It doesn't help that the dogs feel as though they must pile on me, and at least one will dig at the covers if you don't let him under them. I wake up and finding him scrabbling at them, like he is trying to dig to China, the spoiled little monster. Any suggestions? Surely someone out there has discovered the ultimate in summer bedding materials.

My brother bought me a light cotton bedspread that was quilted and is perfect for summer. That's all I ever use!!

My mother used to have flannel blankets. They're lightweight, definitely not heavy and sounds like just what you're looking for. The trick is do they still have them. I haven't looked for blankets lately, but I don't recall seeing them since I left home at the tender age of 18. Next time I go to Wal-Mart I'll take a look to see if they have them.

@marlina No. My mother had thin flannel blankets when we were growing up.

Always nice to have another blanket on the bed. I have quilts and one I had to take off the bed as it made me to hot but lately it has been back on the bed.

I do not exactly know the blanket kind my kids we're using we are in a tropical country and during the night we turn on the air con for us to sleep well. The blanket they are using we're more like of that of the flanell cloth but a bit thicker but still smooth. Not too heavy and breathable.

I use a duvet for our bed, I have a warm and heavy winter duvet and a light summer duvet. I do not like to sleep with only the sheet.

@Jessicalynnt I do not have duvets with feathers because I am allergic to feathers.

they come with anything but feathers? I fear the puppy would eat his way to real ones

I have just gone through the same.... I took my duvet off a month or so ago... and put a lightweight fleece blanket on ... which was perfect... it was nice and light... but gave me a lovely warm snug feeling... the last three nights ... I have even kicked that aside during the night.....

@Jessicalynnt A duvet is a very useful item and makes a vast difference to a bed.

had a duvet in a hotel once, it was lovely, I fear though the puppy would scent the feathers and try to eat his way to them

I'm not sure....Maybe like a light weight quilt is what you need? I personally pile on the heavy comforters all year long. Not sure why. Lol.

find all the old T-Shirts in your cupboards and if you can, sew them together, double strength and make him a blanket.

They used to call them thermal blankets. You can get loose weave cotton blankets for a reasonable price at Wal Mart. I actually have a vellour one that is fine. We are still having a bit of a chill in the weather.

I like a bit of weight too. I have cellular weave blankets on the spare beds and in the bus and they seem really good.

Can you knit or crochet? I've made bedspreads in everything from very fine yard to very bulky and heavy yarn and the weight really does depend on the yarn I use. But those things last forever! I have one that I made about 30 years ago and it's still getting the job done and looks great! And I made it in pieces so I didn't have to sit with something heavy on me, especially in summer! :)

For the moment l dont need blankets even in the winter, the hot flashes make it too uncomfortable so i just have a light bed sheet, and on the few occasions l feel hot, i just take a heavier blanket which is rare.

I hope you find what you are looking for. The dogs want to snuggle up to you or be warm under the covers too.
