Here I go again...starting over

United States
May 2, 2016 12:28am CST
I'm so bummed, a while back I worked really hard to lose a few pounds, and now I've gained it all back and then some...sigh. Why is losing weight so hard. I had to order a couple of shirts in a bigger size, cause I don't like them tight. So back to the drawing board, starting again. Just wish I didn't like food so much...Ugh! Any words of wisdom, or tips, I can use all the help I can get, and encouragement.

It isn't as complicated as it seems. It is, however, not easy. We develop habits. Change is difficult, so changing your eating habits is hard. But, do the work before you go shopping, and set yourself up for success. I buy only what I think I should eat. I prep the healthiest food and store it in glass containers, either in the fridge or pantry. Create a schedule for eating. I eat a small healthy, yummy breakfast, a healthy snack about 10 am, my biggest meal (mostly veg) midday, another snack at 4 pm (usually fruit) and a small meal at about 6 pm. That's it. I'm done. Repeat daily. Good luck.

@lilnana1111 You're welcome. I learned a long time ago, that we can set ourselves up for success or failure in any activity by our preparations. This works for health and fitness as well as careers.

It's hard to lose weight without a little exercise. Do not stress too much, just walking half an hour a day can be enough.

You just have to stop eating so much and so often if you want to lose weight again and keep it off. Self control is want is needed the most.

It's so hard! I wish I could be hypnotized into thinking all the calorie laden food I like tastes bad.

Not sure I have some words of wisdom at all. I believe that when we are committed into doing something, we surely will succeed and it helps to have an exercise buddy who could always be there for us to encourage us to keep fit and healthy.

@lilnana1111 If that works, do it. But start small and work up to more. This way, you will not hurt yourself.

@lilnanan1111 Well, you can wear bifocals to enlarge a small portion of food on a saucer, tricking your mind. But how do you trick your stomach? Hmm ... I'm still working on that--gotta go.

Losing weight isn't easy but what helps is positive thinking, drinking plenty of water, cutting back and of course exercise. I'm sure you will lose the weight again and keep trying what works.

That is how it works, I am in the same boat. Summer makes it a little easier to get out and get in as few extra steps in. Just try to work a little extra it will all fall off. Good luck

@lilnana1111 , I am in the same boat. Every time I lose weight, food pulls me back. So I can only say I hope you find a way to lose what you would like. Good luck.

Spaghetti squash is good because it fills you up and has protein while also being low in calories. I'm sure you're going to do amazing! Don't worry too much over it. Just find small excuses to be a bit more active. If you have them then "forget" a few things up stairs so you have to run up real quick.

For some of us tackling weight issues is a life long battle. Just eat sensibly, walk regularly and hopefully you will have desired results.
