Hubby's New Toy

Hubby came across a good deal on a used motorcycle and bought himself a new toy. It was really one of those deals that are too good to pass up. He had some money put back and will sell his old motorcycle to get some of his money back. Jazzy was scared of his old motorcycle as is was louder and didn't have a big seat on the back. She couldn't wait to get on this one with her Papa. Of course, he doesn't take her riding as that is too dangerous for a small child, but she loves sitting on it! As for me, it is time for me to get over my fear of riding. I used to ride with him until he had a wreck a few years ago. A dog ran out in front of him and he crashed. He wasn't seriously injured but banged up pretty bad. We will be looking for me a helmet to wear not as I don't like riding without one anymore.

Are helmets compulsory there? They are over here. That bike looks a million dollars. It does look like a very comfortable bike. I'd love to go for a ride on it.

The helmet law is determined by state. Our state of Oklahoma, it is not compulsory. I have never ridden with a helmet before, but I think I would feel safer if I did! The bike is very comfortable and it is much smoother than his other one. If you were here, hubby would take you for a ride!

a harley davidson! I don't like motorcycles and I'm always scared of riding them. My husband is fond of that but I discouraged him. My father always told me how dangerous it was to be on a motorcycle. I guess that's why I don't like it. Congratulations and that's an awesome bike.

Thank you, @toniganzon I am a little scared myself, but I love to ride! That doesn't really make sense, does it!

Dangerous - in the Philippines, but in the U.S., it's not as much.

Motorcycles can be really scary. I used to ride with my husband and honestly it terrified me so much! He sold his bike because it was getting too dangerous in our old town for motorcyclists.

I have to admit that I am a bit scared when I ride, but still I enjoy it! We stay out of traffic as much as possible and ride in the country mostly.

We are not allowed to ride without a helmet here, it is mandatory to have one. Anyway, it's not my problem I stay away from motorcycles, I had an accident when I was young and I forgot about them.

@sgbrown The helmet law is the same for all the European countries now, in many countries a light helmet is needed also to ride a bicycle.

The helmet law is determined by state here in the US. I have always been a little afraid of riding a motorcycle, but hubby loves it so much. He is a very good and careful driver, so I try to go with him when I am feeling brave.

@LadyDuck That is recommended here too, but I don't think it is a law.

I know it is really not a smart thing to do and I think I will feel safer with a helmet on. Now to find one that I don't look like a "dork" in! LOL

I did get brave enough to go riding with him this past Saturday and we had a great time. I know he has missed me riding with him over the past few years. I think I will feel safer when I get a helmet.

That is a beautiful bike, I miss riding one but no longer will. I always wore a helmet also. Great that your hubby got a good buy on that bike.

I'm sure he will enjoy his new motorcycle. A great deal shouldn't be passed up. I hope you enjoy riding and I know about the fear. I don't think I will ride on a motorcycle ever again.

Hubby loves his new motorcycle, however his left knee is not too fond of it! This bike is much heavier than his other one and his knee starts hurting after a few stops. Yes, I am a little scared, but I think I will feel safer once I have a helmet on. Now, I have to find one that doesn't make me look like a "dork"!

You would never get me on one of those "beasts", too scary. I guess your husband is pretty pleased with himself.

I have always been a little afraid, but I used to ride with him quite a bit. That is until he had a pretty bad crash about 3 years ago. It was no one's fault, a large dog ran right out in front of him and there was nothing he could do. He wasn't seriously injured but banged up pretty bad. Since then, I have been really afraid to ride. Yes, hubby is very happy to have the new motorcycle, but his knees are not!

What a nice bike. When we were young, we used to talk about touring the US on one. As I grow older, the thought of riding one for more than an hours, is not as great as it was when I was 20.
