How's the Weather? Not as Expected!

My family came to Dakar, Senegal about 2 weeks ago. The weather here has not been what I expected.
I had previously spent 2 1/2 months in Conakry, Senegal. It was very, very hot in Conakry. Most days it was in the 90's, and if it dropped into the 70's at night, that was cool.
So, when I was packing I put in my suitcase everything my children and I would need for very hot weather. I packed my daughters shorts, tank tops and sun dresses.
Now that we have been in Dakar for two weeks, I can see I went wrong with my packing. It is in the 70's during the day, and at night it drops down into the 50's or 60's.
We are cold, and we don't have warm enough clothes!
Have you ever gone on a trip and packed for the wrong weather?

Oh yes! Many years ago my husband and I went to New York in April. It was the coldest April there for I don't know how many years. Snow ploughs were running in front of the buses so that they could move at all. We had to buy woollen gloves and caps. We didn't see all the sights we wanted to because we had to get into coffee shops, again and again, to get warm.

Oh my! Snow in April? That sounds awful! I hope you at least got to do a few fun things while you were there.
