Being a Bookworm

Good day to all the myLotters out there.
One of my pleasures in life is reading a good book. I started young when it came to reading. I would read anything and everything I could get my hands on to. No genre is off limits to me... crime mysteries, action, suspense, science fiction, biographies, and even the occasional rom-com. I would read it all. Sometimes I find myself reading two to three books at a time. I would spend my 'me' time curled up in a ball and losing myself in the worlds that came alive with every letter, every word, and every chapter. Each turn of the page is a new journey and adventure to be experienced. As fast as I would finish a book, I'd immediately start a new one to read. No day passed that I didn't picked up one of my books and read.
Now, even with the advent of technology, I find myself sticking to books... actual hard bound books, printed in ink. I have my kindle but nothing beats the feeling of turning the pages and looking at the creases of the covers and spine admiring each as if it were a mark of beauty.
Any other bookworms out there?

There's a lot of bookworms here. But i'm not one of them. I'm just a worm. The book is still out there and I haven't got the chance to pick it up.

Best that you make time to read the books that you've wanted to read.

I love to read books... once you get to read a book, there's no stopping there. However, my work and projects don't allow me to read a lot. So, I just read a book whenever I have some spare time. I'm currently, re-reading The Godfather... :)

'The Godfather' is a favorite of mine. Have re-read the whole book and my favorite parts of it repeatedly.

In other words, those who read diligently write better and speak better English.

That is so true! If one wants to improve his writing, he needs to read more!

I used to be a bookworm but my reading has declined these past few years. I must admit that I, like you much prefer the feel of a real book and the turning of physical pages. But since I have bought my tablet, I also will admit that I enjoy reading books on it especially when I am travelling either by bus or just visiting my in laws on the weekend. Bringing a small tablet is easier than bringing a book which can be very bulky depending on the number of pages. I guess that I enjoy both the old fashion and the new technology. But thank you for your post and giving me and everybody else the opportunity to respond.

Reading a tablet isn't the same as reading an actual book. That's just my opinion.

I wouldn't classify myself as a total bookworm. I love to read, but go through long spells where I don't read anything.

It's good that you're a bookworm. Seldom you can find people like you these days. Things you read from books stay longer in the memory than those you see on DVD (book stories made into movies). The students of yesterday who read books learned much better and spoke and wrote English well than those who do not.

I also read whatever I can get my hands on as well preferring to read hardback and paperback books over a nook or kindle. I like to actually turn a page to read what happens next. I even reread books as well.
