Researching ways to improve writing

I've spent a good deal of time on Postloop only to find that the forums are too few on subjects where I can actually share what I know of. Getting a 4.20 rating also isn't enough for some of the forums with topics that I like but I can work on raising my rating as long as I continue to do my tasks on some of the affiliated forums I subscribed to. Just a while I go, I did consider subscribing to forums on sports, outdoor camping and barbecue, even a forum on addiction just so I could raise my rating. Then again, wouldn't that be cheating? I've read that on an average, a forum post could earn 0.08 cents and although I'm not sure how they decide on that much, I'm wondering how much is being paid for each comment made here on MyLot. Does anybody know? Anyway, I've started reading articles on ways I can improve my writing. I would like to work on various types of writing like feature articles, business/commercial writing, essays, short stories and novels. I know I need a lot of practice. My grammar and punctuation tends to derail and I would like to learn to craft sentences that would hold a loyal readership. I've always admire writers who can twist and come up with witty ideas that makes me want to read more. I'm hoping to find a mentor who could help me with this pursuit so I can definitely one day, be paid as much as $500 per article I write just like the experts do.

The best way to improve your writing is to just keep doing it. It also helps to have a spell/grammar check to catch typos and mistakes. Also, reading from back to front helps you spot a lot of errors. Sometimes, words pass spellcheck but they are the wrong word. ie. there, their, they're.

Yes, thank you. Proofreading ones articles before submitting is also a good trait that we writers should always practice.

@maxen07 It is so easy to make mistakes and you are so familiar with the material that you don't see them. It always helps to let them sit awhile and then read again.
