My dad just had shoulder surgery, but he's not having this sitting around the house business. Being the rebel that he is he insisted on driving to go find some parts to fix the water softener pipes. Unlike my sister, I didn't demand he stay put. Maybe I should have, but then I'm the obedient one in the family. Not bossy or spoiled like the others. I went with him. On the way back home, we were struck in the back by a car, that was struck in the back by a van and the impact caused us to collide with the van in front. Dad's bad shoulder hit the dash and he was in a lot of pain. He is okay now. He did talk with his doctor. Nobody else was hurt thankfully. The next day, I woke up and arms and legs were very sore. Not sure if it was related to the crash, but they feel better now. Maybe rebellious dad will calmly stay at home now and listen to his doctors advice.

haha, your dad really is stubborn. I wonder how you mum managed to deal with him day after day. Probably she just gave in to whatever he wanted.

Um no. lol Actually when it comes to giving into what somebody wants, that's his job. You ever heard of the expression "Happy wife, Happy life" ? It's pretty popular around here. He lives by that. She had no clue he had snuck out of the house that day because she remained bedridden for a few days after coming from the hospital. He begged my step sister not to tell her about it. She would have really let him have it if she found out.

Being stubborn seems to be a part of every individual's DNA. And unless something bad happen, they will not follow what has been instructed them to do. I hope your dad will learn from that lesson and just follow what was told him to do so. I guess he feels bored. Why not just collect movies that he wants to watch? He might enjoy it.

He feels bored and "useless" , as he puts it. The movie thing is a good idea. Maybe it'll take his mind off things at least. Thanks for the suggestion.

I had shoulder surgery years ago and we should stay at home as our reflexes are not good due to a lot of pain with some movements.

Oh, that's so unfortunate... Sometimes it takes a few days for the effect of an accident to take place. I hope everyone will be alright - especially for your dad, hopefully the accident won't make his after surgery shoulder any worse. Take care!

It's seems to be improving. There is a a significant amount of mobility returning in his arm where the shoulder surgery was done.

That's how it is with our dad . As long as they are able still , they cannot stay put and do nothing . They feel useless doing nothing .

Good thing he and you are alright, these cars striking from the back need to be more cautious, but understand the need to not sit around after the shoulder problem as it's very hard
