Still Don't Know When

Well, yesterday I saw my eye doctor and he confirmed that my cataracts had progressed. But he is not the one doing the procedure. Now I have another appointment on May 24th to see the ophthalmologist and he will give me his opinion. I am getting more and more frustrated by the day it seems. It is going to be difficult to keep me from having anxiety about the whole thing. Who knows when the date will be?

I sincerely hope that it does not drag on for as long as mine did.

Gads! I would hate that. I am like my mom and the unknown in my future keeps me up nights. Insomnia, stress, anxiety. Ugh! I hope you hear soon. You are going to want a vacation after all is said and done.

@marlina ....Maybe if you work it through in your mind. I mean what the different scenarios might be. Then you shouldn't feel so anxious.

My husband went through having both eyes operated on a few years back to remove cataracts.

@marlina Yes, it went smooth. The next day when he was allowed to take the patch off his eye, he had a black eye. I think it lasted about a week. He had no complication from the surgery or anything. They only operated on one eye at a time. He had one eye done, and six months later the other eye.

I can understand your having anxiety over this. I would want to know sooner than later if I were in need of having surgery. Just knowing that one would need surgery on your eyes is enough to get you anxious. Big hugs to you.

I already had Open Heart Surgery, you'd think that I would be used to that sort of anxiety, but I guess one never gets used to this.

I had cataract surgery two years ago, and I was very apprehensive too, as I didn't know what to expect, but once I had the first eye done, I then knew what to expect when they did the other one. I have never regretted my decision to have them done either, as I see so much better, as it is like looking at teh world with different eyes. I don't need my glasses anymore, only to read, as I can watfh tv, use the compuer and drive without having to wear any glasses. I am sure hapy about that too, as I hated glasses. I do enjoy not having to wear glasses, that is for sure. I hope that the surgery goes well for you.

Waiting always takes the longest, in the mean time, just try to enjoy your time before you might need the surgery.

You should not feel frustrated. Doctors are the best judge in your case. You should rely on them. The concerned Doctor will only decided whether your Cataract needs surgery or not?
