Have You Ever Met A Celebrity?

I was telling @puddleglum about the time when I was a long-distance telephone operator in Denver, Colorado and Raymond Burr was doing a telethon to raise money for some charity. My friend, Sally, and I and several other operators volunteered to answer the phones on the TV set, while it was being broadcast LIVE. I happened to be seated nearest to where Raymond Burr stood when he was talking into the camera and during the breaks, he would sit on the edge of MY table and talk to me. I was 19 years old at the time, so it was quite a thrill to meet him. He was very friendly. More recently, I got to meet and talk to Mario Lopez. He came to the Southern Women’s Show in Richmond, Virginia a few years ago and I was selected to present him with two items of men’s jewelry from the company I worked for at the time. We had a booth there at the show and I presented him with the jewelry. I also got an autographed picture of him. I will say that he is a much smaller person than I thought he was, but still what I call “a cutie patootie.” LOL And of course, I have met and had dinner with Victor Kiam and his wife, Ellen, who owned the jewelry company I worked for. He is famous for owning the Remington Corporation, (the Remington Razor company) and also Lady Remington Jewelry, which is the jewelry I sold for many years. I also knew his son, Tory, who later took over the company, after Victor died. Now, the company has been dissolved. Have you ever met anyone famous? Picture by Pixabay

Mario Lopez. That's exciting! He's not super well known to everyone, but I met actor Gianni Russo, who played in the Godfather and other films. It was at the San Gennaro festival in New York City (Little Italy). He signed a photo of a scene from the Godfather for me. I thought he was a nice gentleman.

Wow, a Gianni Russo mention! I haven't heard his name in years. I have seen Al Pacino in person.

@puddleglum Gianni Russo made his acting debut as Carlo but he just didn't go on to great things. He acts a lot but in small roles.

@JohnRoberts I haven't seen him in anything in awhile, but it was nice to meet him. Seeing Al Pacino would definitely be a memorable experience. He's one of my favorite actors, mostly because of the Godfather trilogy.

I met Billy Idol. A friend of ours was a roady for him, and when we all met up for our yearly camping trip, he brought Billy along. We were at a big motorcycle rally, the Redwood Run, and he spent the entire weekend camping with our group. He's a very nice guy.

Several years ago, we used to have Season's Passes to King's Dominion, just north from where we lived and also Busch Gardens, just east of where we lived. Both places had numerous bands and individual celebrities on stage and we used to go to all of them. So, I've seen a lot famous people, but not really met them up close and personal, except for the two I mentioned.
