My Phone Bit the Dust

ggrrrrrr....yesterday all the sudden I had no mobile data, no phone service, nothing. What the heck? At that point I didn't worry about and just continued with my stuff at home with the wi-fi. At bingo last night I was going to do some online photo sharing and it kept telling me to please insert a sim card. Sigh..... We took it to the Verizon store and the worker put in a new sim card for me and got it all registered....still nothing. He said he hadn't seen anything like that happen before. Since there is no damage to my phone from me dropping it or it being in water etc, we were able to use the warranty instead of the insurance and get it replaced. My new phone is to be shipped overnight and here tomorrow. I will then have to take both in and have them switch all my stuff to the new phone, and box up the old one for return. It's frustrating, but hopefully will be fixed up soon. I'm just glad I can at least work some of my apps on it while at home in the meantime. Have you ever had your cell phone give out on you?? Of course I souldn't be surprised as I am running something on it usually 24/7.....I even let apps run while I am sleeping.

Phones tend to mess up at some of the strangest times. I can't think of a time when my smartphone messed up that badly though. I think the most that has happened is that it would take forever to do anything on. I have an Iphone 4s now and sometimes it hangs up (gets laggy) but that is few and far between. I'd hate to see the day that I have to replace it completely, I don't have a contract but have been meaning to get on one.

Well mine is super slow and stupid acting and driving me batty. I can't wait to get the new one. We only have 2 more months to pay on these and then we get to upgrade to 6 if we choose to. Contracts have their good and bad side. It's cheaper, for example, to go with straight talk, but the coverage isn't very good...and their no limit mobile data slows down to about nothing after a few gigs.

@marsha32 I used to have straight talk and won't get them again. I have verizon now, but prepaid. If I were to go with the contract (which I intend to do), the only thing that would change is that I could get insurance with my phone and a replacement plan. I might have to pay a little bit more in taxes, but the price would essentially be the same. So the new phone is being delivered to your house and you have to go take that up to the store later today?

Maybe it was your cell phone way of protesting for overusing it.

I keep thinking that all day. I have 2 cell phones that were less than $20. I've used them for well over a year now just to run apps, but both of them are about doing nothing now. Then I have my hubby's old cell for running apps. I had my old phone, but it already had stopped working. Hubby's old one just had a blown battery. Yep, I over heat them and all in the name of earning those pennies.

I basically just use low tech throwaway phones. I was wondering what happened there.

We are all so dependent on such things now-hate when they don't work right! We had a Verizon issue too-are their workers still on strike?

Funny I just seen this as I just posted a discussion about my phone going out. I miss my phone so much but I can not get another one so my friend is letting me borrow an old one she had laying around. I'm sorry yours broke but hey you'll get a brand new one and that is awesome!

@marsha32 I still have my cell phone of 4 years---lol! I rarely talk on the phone. Maybe I should give out my number sometime.
